I don't even know when my homelife became transactional but it did. I tried so hard to feel loved and important but I had nothing to build that on. The support I had was superficial. I was an obligation, and I felt it.
I didn't drink but my sobriety stalled and that hurt me more than anything else.
I got sober and pregnant at nearly the same time. I again let myself hide in an identity that came from external factors. I was wife. I became Mom. I work job. I could not feel validation. I couldn't give myself the time and space to heal because I felt worthless. I felt so worthless. Nothing.
I adopted the likes of my partner. I dropped my passions because I became passionate about us. I started drinking and took to it too well. I was abandoned and I took even harder to people pleasing and drinking and it nearly killed me in a real way.
I stopped drinking, but I'd forgotten who I was.
Thinking about stuff said at the meeting tonight. I realize how much I built an identity on being a lush that the idea of not drinking was impossible for so long because it felt foundational. I was a chameleon in my alcoholism. I got sober but I didn't stop hiding myself. I stayed lost a long time.
Lmaooo my littlest saw my oldest fiddling around with Google Earth and he had started asking for "the World" and I'm thrilled that I can give it to him, at least like this!

I started carrying this thing around and I'm so glad I had it at my meeting tonight. I had so many things I wanted to think about but I wanted to give the speaker attention so I was able to write down some notes and when I'm ready to think more about stuff, I've got a record to draw from.
Hate that I don't get hungry until 7PM and then I just don't feel like eating. I gotta get my meal prep on.
I never imagined I'd be a person who had to worry about losing my appetite to a degree that I lost weight but I'm not thrilled with the scale today for that reason.
I thought I ate today but I guess a cup of Greek yogurt with Fiber One and fruit preserves isn't quiet enough for the whole day.
It's particularly helpful for people with Borderline Personality Disorder and while I don't have that diagnosis, I do have overlapping symptoms stemming from abandonment issues and AuADHD that were well addressed through DBT. I've found Kadampa Buddhism meditations to be a good compliment, too.

Dialectics is a trip. DBT allowed me to let go of so many unnecessary responsibilities. It's not for everyone but between all my alcohol rehab work and other therapies, it tied everything together pretty nicely.
I'm a bitch that went to therapy and got worse because now I know how to better advocate for myself. I learned that I'm responsible for my share, and that's it! So now, I can do things like push back against narratives by including my uncontrollable environment as part of my "illness."
I am a heavy user of my patient portal lol! I lucked out on my current therapist/psychiatrist combo and feel confident speaking openly to them and having a paper trail has proven essential to my life due to external factors weaponizing my mental health.
