Once on a panel for a professional conference, someone asked me if technology gives me hope for access.

I said let’s get ramps on every building first, and the tech bro manager was PISSED. People want to believe that they invented the answer to systemic issues…without understanding the issues.

This is exactly what my addition about copy editing and translation yesterday was about.

"oh I just use AI for grammar checks at the self-editing stage" Interesting. I use my knowledge of the language I am professionally writing in for grammar checks. Almost like it's part of the job or something.

I will ready pretty much anything he wants to write! It's all so good!

But I once saw him hating on Boyz II Men back in the day on Twitter, so I am sure he has the juice there too, haha

one of the great strengths of hanif abdurraqib’s work is that it is grounded in talking about the things he loves & why he loves them w/incredible rigor. zero doubt that he also has the juice as a haterβ€”he just doesn’t foreground it as his public critical practice.

An illustration titled "How long it takes to wake up" shows a series of four drawings of a person with dark, curly hair in various states of exhaustion against a light green background.

The progression includes:

5 mins to open my eyes: The person is lying flat on their back, staring blankly upward.

30 mins to really wake up: The person is sitting up with heavy, dark circles under their eyes and a dazed expression.

1 hour to feel human: The person is standing but bent completely over at the waist, reaching toward their feet.

3 hours to realize I overdid it: The person is lying face-down and motionless on the floor.

a man and a woman are standing next to each other . the woman is holding a rose in her hand . Alt: Brittney Murphy in Drop Dead Gorgeous shouting the word, "GAY!" at her character's dad.

Obviously, to each their own, it's all fine to me as long as it does not compel you to harm others. like, what do I know? nothing, really.

Listen, I am an Oasis diehard and will wholeheartedly defend anything Be Here Now onwards, but Noel saying, "We should have quit after Knebworth" would have made sense too. (Lot of good songs you wouldn't get though! Causal/normal people don't realize! I will fight Noel himself on BHN's merits!!)

I saw that first movie at 19 on opening night with a theater full of rowdy college students, and it was exactly the right way to experience it.

My dad did shift work, so really, he had a reason, but he wouldn't have been that into it anyway.

I was a contrary child who resented having to get up early on Sundays & my mom would make me dress up & my dad never had to go. But it was an Episcopal church, so at least the fire and brimstone was very minimal.

Hearing about friends' weird churches tho? THAT got me super tetchy on their behalf.

i am of course going to keep posting my 3 AM thoughts because I believe that is exactly what social media is for, but folks, if you want a truly comprehensive and multifaceted peer-reviewed exploration of something, may I suggest books and academic papers and not Bluesky threads

Mainstream America: We are obsessed with Heated Rivalry and Drag Race. We love them and can't get enough.
American Democrat politicians: LGBT people are not culturally normal. We will not speak of them.
