Immersive sim is when you don't know if you're doing it right but it worked anyway.
If you search Dishonored or BioShock 2 in the end-game desktop search bar, The Magic Cricle will tell you they're great games!
100%'d The Magic Circle. It's half an immersive sim where you assign verbs to different minions to explore and solve problems, and half a fourth wall-breaking fever dream where the developers invite you on a sweat and tears behind-the-scenes tour.
- Krafton is said to "have not once stepped in"
- "We're confident that we're going to appeal to all the imsim fans, and we know we're going to appeal to a lot of the openworld, shooter and narrative guys, the cyberpunk fans - maybe a lot of people coming from The Ascent"
- The team caps at about 25 people with limited external support and has an average age of 40, in a way it's more similar to Raf Colantonio's WolfEye Studios: "a haven for hands-on veterans looking to punch above their weight"
- The game also supports stealthy and hacky play style: shooting lights, stunning enemies, muting sound, hacking...; When you a more experienced with hacking, your "heavy button presses of an elder gent" will turn into "fluid touch typing"
- Characters will comment on your ruthless actions but without sense of judgement, you don't get punished or rewarded for how you play, learning from lessons of Deus Ex and Dishonored
- The city is an outlaw zone between 3 countries in conflict, there are also peacekeepers and local gangsters in the city, high bounty on you will make enemies shoot you on sight; don't expect to win a fight with peacekeeper mechs easily
- You can choose to pay for groceries or rush out of the store, affecting reputation; Killing a shopkeeper and their store will be permanently closed; You can kill anyone, the game will remind you if you want to reload because an important NPC died, but you can choose to continue
- World building is inspired by Deus Ex and Dishonored and aims to ease the burden on the player
- The city Port Desire is flanked by jungle and coast on two sides without invisible wall boundaries; it's dense and highly-detailed: grocery store are rich of objects of fascination
