Drinking game once the playoffs start - gotta drink every time they reference the Leafs! Should be zero but they just can't help themselves!
1 referee, not in the way and boards without advertising. Makes me sad about how the game has suffered at the hands of incompetence and greed. โน๏ธ
It's shite, but better get used to it because this is their A team that will likely get assigned to the Habs for the playoffs... Which to me is only slightly better than Galley because we at least get to enjoy how much it pains these guys to talk up the Habs!
Nice add for sure - kind of a Slaf light for the 2nd line.
If the Leafs keep the older core then they have to want current NHL players to make them competitive again next year. Ask was probably something like Anderson, Dach and Newhook. Had to be close to reasonable or it wouldn't have continued.
Actually the fix is to remove the rules/refs and DOPS from the commissioner and turn them over to a committee of former players voted in by current players. Owners being allowed to control rule application and safety through a puppet dictator is a very flawed system.
And my job as fan would be much easier. Watch - cheer - drink!
I think Dobey earned the next start so I'm good with the decision. Deal with the Sens game planning once the Leafs game is done.
D breakdowns for 1-2 goals a game and goalies allowing a soft one and still being there at the end... Wow. If they fixed those we would have no couch coaching to do!
He probably drives to the arena in his gear so he just has to put on his skates when they open the doors!
I can't watch Laval games but I've been told on here that they do play the same D structure in Laval...so he should be familiar with the "tag - you're it" approach to defending the zone!
A lot of our offence comes from our D and that's because they are not the big stay at home guys like we had back then. D structure needs to be suited for the players we have so if you want the offense then you need a system those players can excel in. It isn't what we had and isn't what we have! ๐คท
If the players have played zone their entire life then I can see it taking a lot longer than 20 games to re-write their instincts. But some of the players struggling now have 150 games experience with it so we've clearly passed whatever threshold is reasonable.
So subjective! How do you compare 200' C's like Suzuki to 1 dimensional scoring forwards to offensive D men to Defensive D men to goalies?! Rate them in their own categories and discuss those lists but comparing to each other is just click bait for arguments online. We couldn't even agree on Habs!
I have to assume that the D system has been discussed at length between Mgt and coachrs and there is an upside to staying the course? Harder to master but once the team fully understands it they will be harder to play against? Painful to watch now, but I assume we'll be thankful in a couple years?
Right where we want them.
I'm thinking Phil will have money on the board so why not!
4-1 Habs.
Habs PP. Time to simplify. Only 1 natural shooter on the ice and he is below the goal line?? Get Dobson at the top so there is a threat of a shot to open up the box and create lanes. Go back to Nick coming downhill towards the slot and find a lane left, right, drop to Dobson or shoot himself.
I was thinking... With this team I think I would rather be down by 2 to start the 3rd than up by 1 with a minute left. So maybe the same is true for the standings? ๐คท Better they must win instead of playing not to lose like last year...
I agree with your assessment but I think it's more than just 24. Having 24 and 11 on the ice at the same time with the often invisible 17 is a mistake - especially on the road when you can't control the match-up. Situationally there is a spot for 24...but MSL hasn't found it.
Bold!
I think between his work ethic and MSL's approach he will become a complete player. My goal for his development would be more Datsyuk and less Kucherov. Somehow needs to find he way on to a line with Cole so he has a lethal finisher.
How about putting AX out as a F in the last minute. Big body, long reach...
Marty's pissed - I could see a surprise line-up insert just to have the right guy to kill that last minute of the game!
Yep. Time to bring in the DR. Give him the 6 minutes that AX is getting and have everyone on their proper side. Or bring up AE and let him play the right side of the bottom pair.
Maybe the skaters need to figure out their angles a little better so they are taking away half the net and not taking away the middle along with Monty's sight line? It's like there is always a clear path to the top corner and Monty's head is behind 3 people! ๐คท
Coaches see what the players have in practice. I don't think it's a strength for Slaf. At this point I want to see Bolduc and Newhook - at least they will shoot. Dobson would be my sleeper pick.
I think that's a rule in International which is why it made me ask. Sorta makes sense to me.
Wtf is with that jab to Lane after the shot?
Like that.
Demi when they have to score...
