Non-yugioh answer here, but the Fox Engine! They made this insanely powerful new engine for MGSV and then made basically it, MGS Survive, and a few soccer games and then abandoned it. Probably over a million dollars spent on an engine they haven't touched in six years.

Yu-Gi-Oh provides for autonomy by allowing your actions to feel impactful, belonging by creating a community to involve yourself in, and competency by letting your understanding of the game be rewarded by winning games.

That's because one of the psychological needs is autonomy. If they don't feel like their autonomy is being respected, they are less likely to derive enjoyment from an activity. (The needs are autonomy, belonging, competency, comfort, and safety)

Can you believe Ghoti was down so bad, we played this guy until the new wave released and he was finally cut? If he at least could special himself, it would be fine, but he's a two card at best that gets you an 8 and nothing else.

I recommend some Ursula K. Le Guin (if you haven't read The Left Hand of Darkness, fix that). The Chronicles of Amber is a great old fantasy series by Zelazny that's well worth reading.

They murdered this game. It was originally a single player game that got axed to be a live service game until Anthem flopped, then they panicked and restarted it again. But most of the DA staff had left because they were the black sheep at Bioware, so the game ended up not having the same heart.

I REALLY wanted to like Veilguard. I gave it a legitimate try, but so many things got in the way for me. The characters were...mostly fine. The story was aggressively mediocre. The superhero posing in conversation made me irrationally angry. And the lack of cultural accents was stupid.

Runick Ghoti. If you lock yourself too early, you're fucked. If you summon the wrong Runick, you're fucked. If you use a Runick spell during your opponent's turn and you can't stop them from playing the game because of it? You better believe you're fucked.

EDH is a board game that uses Magic cards as its game pieces rather than another format. If you don't like it, that's fine, but it's a good board game to play with friends.

My worst nightmare

They dive into the deep ocean (the banish zone) and when they come back (ss during standby), they draw the bigger fish to eat them (quick synchro into big fishes). Most of them take one or more things back to the depths (banish) with them.
