I'm so sorry it took so long for me to reply! i plan the UVs of the character around ONLY having 128x128 pixels - and i set this as a hard constraint - i refuse to go higher than this. After the unwrap, I go into painter, hand paint, add the pixel8r filter, then export down at 128x128 - done!
thats a very good question, itll be action based first person combat, but of course with a gritty moldy grungy world, the darksouls comparisons are apt

thank you so much! that is what we're really going for. Unreal is a joy to make gameplay logic in, but yeah haha normally people go for realism. we're only two devs so we cant afford to try for realism, so we're trying to go for that retro iconic feel
