I bring a sort of X vibe to the Y meme with a man gazing off over the railing of a porch, labeled "my toddler brings a sort of rotten food vibe to the car that people don't really like"
RIGHT. I wanted to be like I swear I didnβt round this π
Two goldfinches in their winter plumage, sitting on a tree-shaped window feeder, argue with a third whoβs in midair having just jumped away from the feeder tray.
The offending goldfinch attempts to fly back up, receiving a smack in the face from another. The other goldfinch has briefly exited the scene.
A brief detente. All three goldfinches munch on seeds.
After getting knocked away in the interim, one of the three goldfinches glides back towards the feeder, wings outstretched. A fourth goldfinch is just visible towards the top right, out of focus and perched in the arborvitae behind the feeder.

it's not by any means the only type of reading I offer, but LOTS of my clients are going through career transitions, or are looking to kickstart an artistic, magical, or spiritual project of some kind. so I really love looking at a couple potential narratives.
1: we chat a little bit about what you want to get out of the cards and, if you're totally new to the cards, I can give you an intro
2: we get the lay of the land of the problem / question
3: we compare/contrast 2-3 options
and the hour actually goes really fast!
if you're like (rightfully so) Ash, what in the butts am I going to talk to you about for an hour with Tarot, my sessions usually (not always, but usually) go something like:
11/fin: the most critical thing in my practice is that I don't want someone walking away feeling unmoored or unanswered, and that's going to look different for every client depending on what they're seeking.
10/ I don't charge by number of cards / the spread I'm using, I charge by time, because part of my job is helping someone find the right question and/or sequence of questions to ask.
8/ Tarot is SO much fucking fun, but it's also really tender, and I need the space before and after to make sure I'm taking good care of my clients and myself.
7/ The other facet is, whether you think it "works" or not, creating a good reading experience is a lot of work. People naturally want to use Tarot to explore heavy questions. I'm providing an uninterrupted hour of vent time.
6/ the need for asking for that is important to keep it from being a free-for-all (ask me how i know) (don't)
5/ Divination is fun, but it's not a basic human need that requires accommodating. Which is not to say that I don't accommodate, because I do make space in my schedule for reduced price readings if someone's genuinely interested.
4/ If you're looking for divination from other people often enough that this is an issue, you should probably teach yourself. (there's a whole rabbit hole I could go on here about responsible question asking)
3/ There's two key facets of this to me and the first is this idea that Tarot spreads and "card pulls" shouldn't be expensive, but cost actually acts as a gateway from overuse.
