Hottest day ever recorded during the month of March in Ventura at 92 degrees. Also broke the February monthly record about two weeks ago. Marine heatwave, potentially strong El Niño next season and the reversal of climate policies all point towards extreme weather events in our near future.

Over 8” of rain from this singular storm easily exceeds rainfall totals from all of last year in Ventura. This is not normal. Our storms are becoming more extreme and the gentle rain days are mostly nonexistent, especially in the last five years.
1.0” in 30 minutes and still moderate to heavy rain in Ventura. Crazy amount of rain in 48 hours, over 5.8” so far.
0.50” in 10 minutes in Ventura!
Correction. Heavy rain band is only about 2 miles wide!
You rarely see this type of convective line over southern CA extending nearly 100 miles, especially on Christmas Day. Wow! Heavy rain is about 5 miles wide and there is potential for waterspouts and small tornadoes.
This may or may not(?) be the Pearl River along the Mississippi-Louisiana border that I photographed on a flight from FL. Thought the meandering course of the water was exceptional.

We’ve received over 8.5” of rain in Ventura, CA since October 1st. More than all of the previous water year and not far from Olympia, WA rainfall totals (8.9”). Haven’t seen any banana slugs here yet.
Almost as much rain in 1 month as we received in all of the previous 12, and this is a La Niña winter?!
We had somewhere in the vicinity of 6.5” last water year (Oct-Sept).
