It’s been just over one year since the world lost Adriana Smith—the Georgia woman whose body was forcibly kept alive after suffering brain death because she was pregnant.
Her mother, April Newkirk, asks that we remember Adriana.

Last week, ICE deported an asylum seeker to Colombia despite her being eight months pregnant and in medical distress. Two other pregnant women in detention allege that ICE is denying them prenatal care:
Dr. Janell Green Smith was a midwife and advocate for Black maternal health. She died from childbirth complications. Black women are still far more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes.

We are behind schedule for hitting our end of year goal, making it very likely that we’ll be starting 2026 off with a closed intake line.
We need your help to make sure this doesn’t happen.

The way pregnant people, especially Black pregnant people, are treated is atrocious. How do you send someone home from a C section aka intense abdominal surgery with just Tylenol and ibuprofen?!?
NEW: ProPublica has found multiple cases of women with underlying health conditions who died when they couldn’t access abortions.
Tierra Walker, a 37-year-old mother, was told by doctors there was no emergency before preeclampsia killed her.
@nytimes.com—women didn't ruin the workplace, but sexual harassment, lack of equal pay, pregnancy discrimination, gender bias, lack of advancement and leadership opportunities, double standards, microaggressions, unaffordable child care, & the glass ceiling certainly did

LOCAL ELECTION RESULT:
Let me congratulate @zysaidso.bsky.social for her election to the Charlottesville School Board.
For those wondering: Zyahna Bryant was a student organizer who led the successful fight in removing two confederate statues from downtown Charlottesville.
Medicaid is the largest payer of reproductive health care services, but it’s under attack.
Our partners at the Latina Institute released a new policy brief that dives into exactly how important Medicaid is for Latine communities and the dangers of cutting the program. ⬇️
We reject the compact.
Large crowd gathered in protest
Big crowd with signs reading “Don’t Fold” “Don’t Surrender”

Gov. Abbott just signed HB7, set to take effect Dec 4, 2025. It targets medication abortion, encourages lawsuits against helpers, and chills and confuses providers. But Texans support Texans—our doors stay open. Care is not a crime.

HHS has announced that it will hold $81 million in sex-ed funding hostage unless schools drop all mention of trans people.
Trans people have always existed – and won’t be erased.
Alarmingly, Black student enrollment is decreasing in the University of Michigan's psychology doctoral program. In my year (last year), there were 5 of us. This year, there is 1 student, representing 2% of the entire cohort.

Let's be clear: our collective failure to normalize abortion as vital healthcare (including among liberals) leaves abortion providers and pro-abortion legislators uniquely vulnerable.

Help Us Report on Sexual Assault and Misconduct by the Chicago Police Department
We want to talk to people who have experienced sexual assault or sexual misconduct — which includes sexual harassment and unwanted, inappropriate touching or comments — by Chicago police officers, on or off duty.
Texas Republicans are advancing an anti-trans bill that they're calling the "Women's Bill of Rights."
I'm not from Texas, but I'm willing to bet the women there are more interested in not dying from a septic miscarriage than being 'protected' from trans women in bathrooms
Did you know: you can get abortion pills for as little as $5 — FIVE DOLLARS — in all 50 states? And talk to a clinician, who will walk you through the process? Yes, it’s legit. More info here, please share! www.cambridgereproductivehealthconsultants.org/map

📢 Texas teens deserve access to birth control!
That’s why @JanesDueProcess is fighting for #HB2585 and #SB1303, the “My Body, My Future” Act, which ensures confidential birth control access for minors.

My work was previously supported by the Office of Research on Women’s Health, having been published in this special volume on Gender, Power, and Health— shutting down this initiative is a huge loss for health research focused on women and other gender minority populations

A journal article in Obstetrics & Gynecology called "Weight and Procedural Abortion Complications: A Systematic Review"
Many abortion clinics have weight limits for procedural abortion, which can be a major barrier to access.
Our new systematic review out now in Obstetrics & Gynecology shows higher weight is NOT associated with procedural abortion complications and shouldn't be used to deny clinic-based care.
There is a long history of racism and classism in the application of the death penalty—and there is no justice in the legal system taking someone's life. We applaud President Biden and advocates who worked tirelessly for this historic pardoning. abcnews.go.com/US/biden-com...
