As a socialist, I have consistently called for a reduction in expenditure on the armed forces.
Now I am worrying, that with
Brexit and then the ending of NATO, we will soon need a much larger standing army.

WW1 led to the development of large estates of council houses.
WW2 similarly, with more ‘new towns’ as well.
Each war led to near bankruptcy of UK, but we still built housing.
Why not now?
