The first lady bug of the season…
For years I direct-sowed my lettuce straight into my raised beds but, in the last several years, they have been persistently nibbled (and often pulled out) by song birds. Now I grow them to a slightly larger size with my other early started seeds and plant them out when they have bulked up a bit.
Another sign of spring… pricking up lettuce starts.

The Pelargoniums are a little too happy in the greenhouse. Until a ten days ago our winter was unseasonably warm. Now we have the regular chill and the greenhouse barely stays above 40°F but they are still growing and blooming. 😳
