A graphic of a piece of paper on a desk, with stationery surrounding it. "Reimagining Openness in Academic Libraries" is written in the centre, surrounded by phrases - "engagement with academic staff" "Physical openness of the library space" "OERs?" "Philosophy, Policy, Practice, Provocation?" "Open Access, open research" "Accessibility of resources" "Openness of collaboration" "Alternative formats" "Open communication?" "Removing barriers"

The Poet Laureate of the UK is famous for his translation of St Gawain and the Green Knight, and Kym once got up on stage, looked him straight in the eye, and then performed this.
Unsurprisingly enough, every time they've encountered each other since, he's remembered them.
Call for contributions for the first NLISN conference is open. We welcome anything related to neurodivergence and library, information, or archive work as short talks, longer talks, workshops or wildcard submissions.
Please submit your ideas via our form by 2nd April 2026.

canβt believe william osula has single-handedly saved my mental wellbeing this week
this being in the mainstream news is also a great excuse to have that conversation with family/friends about what you/they want for your bodies
some very exciting news: alkaline hydrolysis (water cremations) are now allowed in scotland! hopefully a step towards them being allowed in england as well. also pleased that this is an overwhelmingly positive article about it www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
remember, the far right want to divide us because they canβt win elections otherwise
no matter what makes me grumpy today, at least i can look at the gorton & denton election results and smile

William Bound These shuttles represent the story of Macclesfield weaver, William Bound. In 1877, when homosexuality was a crime in Britain, William was taken to court for his sexuality. He sank to his knees in relief when found not guilty for his first "offence". However, his prosecutor still planned to bring forward a second charge against him.
John Smith Born Sophia Locke, John lived as a man and married several women throughout their life. They raised 11 children with their last wife near Chestergate, where they died in 1848. This is roughly the date of the blue waistcoat on display. After their death, their birth gender was made known to the press by their doctor. This led to John being buried under their birth name.
Lovely to see Macclesfield Silk museum reminding us of gay & trans stories from the mid 1800s.
We went with our 8 year oldβs class last year and they were fascinated by how sexuality was criminalised in the past.
Inclusive history so important in helping us learn from - and not repeat - the past.
The date for our next event is the 25th Feb, so you've got plenty of time to get it bookedπ

A new community-led initiative is crowd-sourcing information about GPs who are inclusive and supportive of Trans+ patients. My Trans GP has now gathered over 900 reviews for the over 9000 GPs listed in the UK. The platform allows users to share reviews of doctors, nurses, and event reception staff, as well as to log important details, such as whether the GP supports shared care, prescribing, monitoring, referrals, and record updates. All reviews are moderated before going public.
Grassroots project gathers helps Trans+ people find GPs known to be inclusive and supportive ππ³οΈββ§οΈ

Disabled, queer and Trans+ people are routinely denied recognition of our support needs.
On top of that, many of us are unshakeably tired.
