Enjoy and good Luck!
I was visiting today, not playing. Could not arrange things with managing club night on Friday (for the weekend tournament) or my work (for the weekday tournament). Good Luck with your games.

Always a pleasure to visit this tournament. #chess #chesspunks
4 days in a row of #chess activities with mixed results ๐ Lost in 2 team matches, mainly because of bad decisions in the middlegame. On Saturday I coached 2 youth players at a regional qualification tournament, in which they both overperformed. Sunday: we hosted an all Girls event, which was great.
It worked out okay, also because the matches tended not to last very long and to end before hectic time scrambles ๐
Refereeing at a youth blitz competition, in which traditional clocks are used for the younger participants.

Well done! So you played on the other side of the aisle (tables <28) ๐
So, I may look worried but this first round match of the Botwinnik Rapid I managed to win. Last round: dito. In between: one draw (in a lost endgame). Let's not talk about the other four rounds ๐โ
Ik red het niet qua werkrooster, maar ik rij zeker een keer naar Wijk aan Zee.
Goed Nieuwjaar!
Thanks, I will read them.
Had a two hours training session with one of our youth club members, in preparation of a regional tournament. We used some pre WW2 games (Euwe, Mencik) to look at opening and middlegame plans. And yes, I learned some new things as well (and barely managed to win the closing training game). ๐ โ
Faithless live is always, always an ELO gainer.
Hi Martin, I tend to do these master games as additional activities. For fun and inspiration, because as you state correctly: most of the ideas later in the game are out of my reach ๐ I also like to look at the middlegame plans for openings I play, because that is where I can improve a lot.
I have a lot of them printed and added to different books. Every now and then I go through them with a board & pieces.
Play against the board and the pieces. Decide during the game.
Yes, I really enjoy his articles about chess history.
Working through game 6 of Fischer - Spassky, with the annotations of Tal, translated by @dgriffinchess.bsky.social.
Yes, it was a fun day regardless of the poor results. I knew what to expect, altough some losses in time scrambles still kicked in. I also coached one of our youth club members, who performed much better, which is always great to see.
Tough Day at the office. Regional open speedchess tournament, 13 rounds. Two draws, 2 wins, 1 bye and 8 losses, mainly due to ridiculously bad time management ๐ฐ๏ธ๐. 3 +2 is not my time controle โ
Two chess activities during the weekend: on Saturday - non-playing captain for our club team in the Nationals (lost 2-6), on Sunday I was one of the volunteers at a youth tournament in Amsterdam.
With some members of my club we organized the Nationals for teams u12. Twelve teams from all over the country competed today (our own u12 team stumbled a few weeks back on the last hurdle in the semis). Great day, some really great matches.
Yeah, I like it as well.
Study session โ๐ง
Chess festival Groningen (december).
Sounds good ๐โ
So, 50%. Happy with that outcome?
Good luck!
