The disproportionate level of force visible in this image is insane. Meanwhile, a White supremacist who charged into a peaceful Iftar dinner in Ballarat, screaming that he was going to kill women and children, was simply told to “move on” by Victoria Police.

This morning the Labor Government couldn’t even bring themselves to support a motion that condemns Islamophobia and calls for action. Instead, they shut down debate while whitesplaining a Muslim woman and attacking the Greens.

Larissa Waters asks Penny Wong if Australia is “at war”
Wong “we are engaged in collective self defence…”
Waters “Point of order on relevance, are we at war?”
Wong “I responded by being clear that we are engaged in collective self defence…”
Is that a yes? 🤔 #auspol

Two robodebt officials engaged in serious corrupt conduct, Nacc finds, but Scott Morrison cleared
Anti-corruption watchdog makes adverse findings against two former public servants but clears four other individuals
Robodebt was the worst failure of public administration in Australian history. It raised est. $1.73 bn of illegitimate debts from over 430,000 vulnerable Australians and plunged thousands of families into distress and grief. And still no real consequences.

In the present context, however, of an investigation into allegations
of corrupt conduct, we are not so much concerned with Diceyan
theory of ministerial accountability and Cabinet solidarity as with
personal obligations of honesty and good faith. Thus, although
Mr Morrison may have been responsible to Cabinet for the failings of
DSS – in particular for DSS’ failings in not preventing the
shortcomings of the NPP and checklist – it by no means necessarily
follows that Mr Morrison was personally at fault for not detecting the
failings of DSS or that he set out to act dishonestly or in bad faith.
The question of any personal shortcoming requires consideration of
the system and circumstances of ERC’s operation at the time of its
adoption of the NPP.
The passages clearing Morrison of fault are extraordinary
NACC says Morrison is technically "responsible" as cabinet Minister, but not "personally at fault"
If responsibility exists without consequence...then what does "ministerial accountability" even mean anymore?

US weighs oil futures market action to combat price spikes, White House official says

Chris Wright announcing and then retracting the claim US navy had already escorted an oil tanker through the Strait is another bizarre feature of the US war: financial manipulation. It's like they're saying whatever to bring markets into line, even as they short traders who step out of line.

This Guardian story amplifies anger at Russia's return to the Venice Biennale.
You'd never know from reading it that Israel and the US are currently engaged in an illegal war of aggression on Iran.
Isn't that "whitewashing war crimes" too, Guardian?

Like at this point it’s no secret to the people writing these headlines that this kind of thing has been roundly criticized for years and years. It’s an intentional, conscientious decision on their part. They know they’re propagandists (and, for better or worse, we all are!).
