World-building for fiction is hilarious. Yeah, my world doesn't tell time like the real world, instead of 'minutes' it has 'moments.' Oh, how long is a moment? Uhh, about two minutes.

A screenshot of two headlines on reddit. The top one, from CBS, reads, "Yosemite worker fired for hanging trans pride flag on El Capitan sues National Park Service." The second, from Fortune, reads, "IRS chief reveals nobody was fired for illegally sharing data with ICE approximately 42,695 times."
These two headlines next to each other... π¬
#11: Clue (1985). Delightful high-energy comedy marred somewhat by its experimental ending gimmick and some of-the-time jokes.

A screenshot of a Wikipedia article, showing the section headline 'Sports and hobbies,' under which is an image captioned, 'Scarlet macaw riding a tricycle at a show in Spain'
This section isn't about the sports and hobbies OF birds, but this image sure makes it seem like it will be.
Legend of Mana, Final Fantasy X, Coming Out on Top, Even the Ocean, Etrian Odyssey IV, Virtue's Last Reward, Atelier Sophie, Hotel Dusk: Room 215, Breath of Fire IV
Here's mine, although 9 is far too few so I just went with the stuff at top of mind right now. Had no room for any Xeno, any SMT, any Kingdom Hearts... π

#10: Punishment Park (1971). Arrested for their political beliefs, young people make the one decision that gives them any semblance of agency and struggle against a system designed to fail them. Grim.

A screencap from Hades II. Melinoe pets Cerberus in a room in the underworld. She says, "Just this one head, I know..."
A screenshot from Hades II, taken from the victory screen at the end of a run. It shows a run completed with 16 fear with the Aspect of Hel.
#2: Hades II. Hard to rank in relation to the first game. It's Hades but more, bigger, messier. Yeah, it fumbles its larger narrative, but I thought the first game's ending sucked, too. It's still great to play, though. I'm tapping out while I still like it.
Quite literally, until you have 10 reviews Steam doesn't surface you at all.
Those first 10 reviews change everything. If you see a game with less than 10 reviews, you are being shown a life you can dramatically improve.

#9: Jawbreaker (1999). There's a weird and cool undercurrent to this that comes out in flashes between what is mostly a serviceable Heathers-like.

Carney fans: here is perhaps the most unambiguous test yet of your principles. Do you support the US starting an illegal war with Iran? Because your guy Carney does.

#8: Go, Go Second Time Virgin (1969). Super low-budget pseudo-erotic black-and-white nihilism. Very fucking dark, about young people so broken and traumatized that they cannot fathom leaving, despite holding the key.

it's all just art. "porn" is just art that makes you horny, in precisely the way that "horror" is art that makes you scared and "metroidvania" is art that makes you write video essays
I'll be doing a panel presentation going into why I made @desertofash.bsky.social and why YOU should live vicariously through playing (and making!) adult games! But you only have a couple more days to get (FREE) tickets!
A cropped screenshot of a Steam page, showing the banner image and description for DESERT OF ASH: a Post-Apocalyptic Gay Sex Simulator. The image shows the game's logo next to an illustration of a shirtless, bearded man, against a red and black background. The description reads, "The world has burnt to ash. Wander the wasteland, scavenge and trade for vital supplies, hook up with over a dozen hot guys, develop relationshipsβhowever fleetingβand decide how you want to live in this new world."
There's still time to get DESERT OF ASH: a Post-Apocalyptic Gay Sex Simulator 10% off, as the launch sale goes to this Friday!
And if you've already played it, reviews are massively helpful in convincing Steam to show the game to more people. π

#7: Mobile Suit Gundam III: Encounters in Space (1982). I thought I remembered how good this gets but it blew me away!! This movie is everything that's special about the series paying off: Lalah, Char, the Newtype stuff, the damn KIDS even!!! π

#5-6: Mobile Suit Gundam I-II (1981). Finally got some friends together to watch these (rewatch for me). SO fun to watch with friends. I'm a movie version defender even though the pacing gets weird.

An edit of a two-panel comic meme showing two doodled people. The left doodle's face has been covered with an illustrated face of a Black man with close-cut hair, and the right doodle's face has been covered with an illustrated face of an Asian man wearing jade earrings. In the first panel, the left person says, "Sometimes I wonder how I taste lol." The right person says, "I can help with that." In the second panel, the left person blushes as he imagines a passionate kiss. The right person, however, imagines comically chomping down on the left person's arm.
Now that the game's been out for a week maybe I can start posting more of these memes I've made and have someone actually understand them π

A screenshot of a section of a Steam review. Text reads: "β Final Verdict Full recommend. Desert of Ash is compelling, replayable, and confident about being a sex-forward gay game without losing its survival teeth. For a first Steam release, it shows real craft, a clear creative vision, and a surprisingly strong sense of structure and payoff. I am definitely going to keep playing, both to see more routes and to finish out the achievements. I am also genuinely interested to see what this developer does next, because this already feels like the start of something with legs."
Our first Steam review is more positive than we could have dreamed!!
Reviews really help with both convincing potential players and the Steam algorithm, so this is really appreciated. π₯
