does anyone really expect people to be “normal” at con?
does anyone really expect people to be “normal” at con?
me: man, my legs and feet are sore after one day of con.
my steps app: that’s because you walked 5.5 miles on hard concrete surfaces (even with a little padding from carpet). you aren’t used to walking on such hard surfaces for that distance anymore.
me: oh well! time to do even more today!
so is it “peace” or “a piece of said place from which to make money”, because it seems more like the latter than the former to me. also, how about some actual proof to prop up the straw man claims for why this is needed/deserved?
hey @emeraldcitycon.bsky.social, your guest list working okay? i’ve seen some people disappear and reappear on it. no cancellations or anything, so not sure if this is intentional? #eccc #emeraldcitycomiccon #eccc2026
excited to see you at the show!
if you haven’t seen it, long live evil by sarah rees brennan. it centers the villain story and has some interesting twists as it builds on the world and characters. the second book is due out in may.
adobe is the gold medal winner for “you say no, but i know you really want this terrible feature that makes things worse.” i wish we could ditch them or go back to older versions that actually worked…
thinking about tariffs and how, with those that you can track having paid and not just being rolled into prices, if we ever see a potential refund it will be next to nothing as we get told initial processing fees are non-refundable and that there’s an equal or higher fee to process the refund.
ugh! needing to get that one book, in that one specific format, with that one specific cover, to finish out a series…and the only apparent option is one where i would have to sign up for membership one a site just to buy it. just it, nothing else likely ever. #bookwoes #bskyreads #blueskyreads
if ever there was a perfect example of “tell me you don’t understand the punk rock ethos without explicitly telling me you don’t understand the punk rock ethos”…
so sick of the shoehorning of AI into everything. can we just stop already? i’m sick of trying to justify use of something that barely works and doesn’t add any actual value to the world.
aww thanks!
also, here’s a cute valentine’s themed thing for you because you deserve something for vday. <3
maybe? it might be kinda fun since it’s the 10 year birthday celebration for the show as well. (also, happy bday dave!)
i want cake. one that is made for me, not by me. not an overdone commercial vday cake, one that is nice and tasty. a cake to celebrate me. will i get one? no. just once i want to be special on today. instead i’m mostly forgotten about in the haze of romantic gestures and midwinter vacations.
frankly, these people need to be found out and publicly shamed like they fear. the claims made by the people in this story are telling of their need to feel superior and to reframe their lack of talent. in the end, readers need to make it clear: #fuckai
this article reads like things are turning in the favor of artificially produced books, like the authors involved in making them think little of their reader’s intelligence and just of the numbers, and yet they are ashamed or feel like they should be allowed to hide their failure to actually write.
it’s that time of year again where i’m not feeling great. not because of the season or weather, but because of life things and let downs over time. sometimes things just weigh heavy and i wish life could be different.
why is it that some authors follow the undead trope that vampires don’t breathe, but they speak? do they not understand the fundamentals of how vocal chords work? #books #vampires #ihavequestions
rip catherine o’hara you will live on a legend in our hearts!
because it can’t be said enough:
f*ck AI
f*ck ICE
f*ck the corporations and people ruining the country and world (and making us dependent on bad corporations/products via their tactics)
take care of yourself
take care of your friends and family
take care of your neighbors
take care of your community
hear, hear! all of us are doing what we can - and sometimes that’s just trying to take care of ourselves day to day. anyone saying we should do more from the comfort of their own first world country needs to step back and reevaluate, because they would likely be doing the same if it were them.
also, if you have a QR code or something for your site that is easy to see/point to for attendees to find you online, that helps if you either run out of business cards or don’t have them. easier to have it on a banner or sign that is up off the table so people who can’t get up to you can see it.
as an attendee, it helps to have names and logos closer to the top so that they can be seen from a distance. making it eye catching with bright colors or an interesting image to help it stand out helps as well.
maybe there’s info online from either the airline or governments as far as restrictions go?
an alternative to embroidery scissors, if that is your main concern, might be using a thread cutter that has a small enclosed blade.
either way, hopefully your flights are smooth and you have a good trip!
i’ve brought embroidery, including scissors, on domestic flights in the US without issue for the past few years. not as sure about international flights, but i would expect it is the same.
apparently playing in the gravel at 8:12am with the minidozer is cool. because, you know, everyone is awake at that time and everyone appreciates the very loud noise in general.
update: they have dug out below actual ground level by about 6” and now have covered the area in plastic, put a 8-12” frame in (depending on spot) and are filling it purely with gravel. yeah, looking forward to the consequences and having to deal with our yard there becoming a swamp when it rains…
today on ‘’my neighbor doesn’t understand how things work”: he is flattening out the area that he previously ground all the tree stumps from by using a minidozer to go over the area and remove the piled up dirt into a trailer instead of compacting the dirt down and filling in the holes.
i want to participate more in the world, but at the same time…people…
final time was just minutes shy of four hours. he even managed to toss some big things at the house right at the end, so time to go check for damage…
