like humans just enjoy something they can relate to and humanoid characters are the safest option. since these are the fucking STARTERS, gamefreak will go safe with them.

like i am a weird freak enjoyer and my favorite is technically humanoid.

maybe its my furry ass speaking but i dont see the issue there, gecqua should stand imo. browt will always be bipedal unless they make it a fucking griffin or smth. pombon can be either, just look cool
