πŸ“’ The UK government is talking about making HUGE cuts to disabled people’s social security.

Disabled people are already three times more likely to face hunger, and these cuts risk pushing even more people to food banks.

This week’s items most urgently needed are Jars of Pasta or Curry Sauce, tinned fruit and Long Life Cartons of Juice.

We also wanted to share how how strong carrier bags / Bags for Life can be for someone visiting Foodbank for the journey home. #ThankYou #York

A triangle diagram showing what you think food banks provide vs what food banks actually provide. At the top of the triangle is 'food'. At the bottom of the triangle is everything else that food banks provide, that people may not know about. This includes food, hope, advice, cups of tea (and biscuits), support, a listening ear, warmth and kindness.

Did you know we provide more than food?
We also signpost to help on money matters and connect people to practical support to make it less likely they’ll need to turn to a food bank again.
Always there for a cuppa and a chat if you are going through tough times

Time for some #bluesky thinking on ending the need for Foodbanks. 8846 emergency food packages distributed last year in York is too many. So grateful to generous help of people in York but need to work Together for change. #GuaranteeOurEssentials @trusselluk.bsky.social
