This is making the rounds again, and I was amused to reread the thread and see that it was shortly before our book came out. Lots has happened in the past 10 months, but the message of this thread still holds.

Reminder:
In my utopian vision of the future, instead of offloading all the pointless, annoying work tasks (like reports that none one will read and needlessly opaque forms) to robots, we restructure work and society so that the pointless tasks don't happen at all.
What sacrelige is this?

Happy Birthday to The Queen from all of us all over here and there. π₯ππ»ππ½πππΈ
If youβre going to be required to use a digital robot butler then surely you want that to mean that it will do work while youβre frolicking in meadows or relaxing with novels and tea, not that it will do work while you somehow go out and find other, harder work to do even more of, for the same pay
The great Don Martin
The Cramps @ Emerald City, Cherry Hill, NJ. May 8, 1981 (Full Show) . Shot by the great and wonderful Rich Lustre of Sic Kidz Lights by fab Rick Schmidlin on this tour if not mistaken ! Lux Interior, Poison Ivy, Kid Congo Powers, Nick Knox . What a gas it was! youtu.be/Kx0f_posfFg?...
This just-posted Canadian 1974 TV special w/ Steve Martin (his first!) is pretty entertaining if you remember Toronto or Montreal pre-1980s, or else if you're very into seeing a young Steve Martin. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Leb8...
They are both good, indeed. For a while I lived equidistant between the two! Oh, the decisions! :) Always poppyseed, though.
The Sore Boozers band (4 out of 9 of us, anyway), kicking off a tune. Paul points to the sky, Heather looks up, Dennis is reading the lyrics, Andy in a Santa hat is laughing.
I think this was the beginning of Dennis singing a song about how aliens would misunderstand christmas. Part of our show last night, with numerous pals joining in. Big fun.
Q: So your job is to judge people, but not to judge people for judging people.
A: Youβre making it sound like I approve of Krampusβs methods. I donβt. Just because you share a holiday with someone doesnβt mean you agree with them on everything. I love kids.
Poster for concert featuring Gerard Van Herk, Bloodshot Bill, Eddy Gazel and DJ Shanker, this Thursday night at House of Targ in Ottawa Canada.
This Thursday. Gerard Van Herk is my hero. His band Deja Voodoo and his label Og Records warped my teenage brain, never to be the same again. Heβs back with a new LP after 30+ years and heβs performing here in Ottawa. With Bloodshot Bill, Eddy Gazel and me spinning 45s. Late start but early finish.
Ugh, for an edit button, no link intended
Btw, Mr G. Van Herk hqnd delivered his new LP to my house this morning... And I was not home!!!! Argh!
Gave it a spin last week! Love Picture Book, which I first heard via the mighty YFF. And the title/first song, especially.
Lucky you! Don't think I ever sae them, but I dig the couple of records I have
And the Swingin Neckbreakers (different era, tho)
You could wear some nice frames w/o lenses, complete the Look!
I gotta admit, you guys have a good look going on, no question!
@draymaker.bsky.social , you got a doppelganger or two :)
Sore Boozers band at the Tranzac. Guitars, banjo, accordion, bass, snare drum and piano. Mayhem!
Our band, the Sore Boozers performed a mess of tunes by fictional bands from TV and movies tonight, with some talented friends. What a blast.
Stayed there in spring once, watched mother ducks herding the ducklings and fending off the bigger ones, for hours.
And the ducks in the rooftop ponds! Charmant.
Some Ray Davies music for your Thursday RS

Each time they show a celebrity in the crowd it should count as a strike against the Dodgers.
The SkyDome under construction. The big claw of a digger is in the foreground, looking like it's about to dig into a pile of rock or cement where the baseball diamond is today. In the background, the curving cement decks of the SkyDome rise up, the 500s filled with blue seats, and one of the pieces of the stadium's roof is already built.
1. The history of baseball stadiums in Toronto goes back a century before the SkyDome opened.
With the Jays coming home for Game Six, I thought I'd share my old thread about it.
It begins all the way back in the 1800s with a place called the Toronto Baseball Groundsβ¦
Once again, as I am at least once per year, I am bowled over, breathless and swooning, at the awesome majesty of "Get Ready" by The Temptations

Indeed, go Jays. wondering how to listen to the game during band practice tonight, hmmm
