Oh, that’s nice. And what else should we expect when we give puerile man-lets control of the killing machine? It’s only a question of when and where the retaliation will hit.

Having read “We Are The Land”, I can tell you it’s captivating history. Even as someone who has tried to engage with indigenous histories for years, I kept being struck by how much most of us don’t know (and have no idea how much we don’t know).
The best recommendation:
Among the books are “We Are the Land” by Damon B. Atkins and William J. Bauer, “California Through Native Eyes” by William J. Bauer Jr., “Adopted by Indians” by Thomas Jefferson Mayfield, and “We Are Dancing for You” by Cutcha Risling Baldy.

'Bertei writes about No Wave’s music with acuity, its sexist shortcomings with clarity, and its women with care. There is no mud slung at Anya Phillips, Lydia Lunch, or Lizzy Mercier Descloux, only tenderness.'

Sunday rant:
Esther Phillips has been inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. The Grammy awards however are famously safe and behind the curve: she was nominated but never won. Her voice should come with a warning:
I may destroy you.

The details are damning. The only standard for ICE employment now: a willingness to break the law to snatch and indefinitely detain as many (mostly) brown people as possible, then treat them horribly so they’ll take the piddly cash to “self-deport.” www.thisamericanlife.org/give-a-littl...
