I wish I had seen Sinners in theatre, because I think that would've vastly improved my viewing experience. It's just too easy to get distracted at home.
It was nice getting to see some Asian characters in a period piece where they usually get ignored completely or relegated to the background. Music was great. I was waiting for the Choctaw guys to show up again but was a little disappointed that they only got one scene (but it was a good one).
Sinners - I was either on the edge of my seat or bored with this one. There was a little bit too much going on in this movie (some ppl say it was Marvel-fied and that makes sense to me). Really enjoyed the worldbuilding esp. how magic works and the mythology, and getting to know the characters.
Bugonia - I always enjoy a Yorgos Lanthimos movie but they're never my favourites. The idea of conspiracy pilled weirdos kidnapping a CEO because they think she's an alien is 100% up my alley but I just found the whole thing a little unsatisfying. The palette of this film was PHENOMENAL.

Bugonia and Sinners - two movies I had high hopes for but didn't quite live up to expectations for me. I didn't dislike either of them (and there were bits I really did love) but I may have fallen victim to the hype train.

So far I have Peanuts, Family Circle, The Far Side, and for Better or for Worse. There is a Doonesbury homage too. Oooh I should reference Non Sequitur and probably Zits since that would've been in the comics section in the early 00s.
The hardest part about this upcoming page of Maritonia is drawing a little background bit. I'm trying to quickly draw something that looks like an actual funny page comic without copying anything exactly, but also if you looked hard enough at it, that they could have a storyline/gag.
Normally a 6 episode season would piss me off, but this was like 100 page novella, and it was the perfect length. It reminded me of the hour long adventure shows you'd watch on Saturday afternoons in the 90s... except with full frontal nudity.
AKOTSK: I loved this so much. I read some of the Dunk and Egg novellas AGES ago and loved them then. I reread the Hedge Knight while watching this and loved every second of it. They knocked it out of the park. Great casting choices. Love a buddy comedy, love knight shit.

This will be the Georgio and Marina side comic.
I got VERY carried away with the epilogue. I'm going to release an abridged version but its going to end up being a third side comic. I think I can probably get away with only releasing a third of it and still get the point across.
I finally started thumbnailing the epilogue to chapter 3... its basically a whole-ass chapter. It should really be chapter 2.5.

My grandfather dealt with a lot of mining companies and my grandmother worked for mining companies as a secretary. I'm kind of a mining industry nepo baby and I probably wouldn't have had the same career path if my grandparents didn't have involvement in the industry lol
My one grandfather was a stock broker down on Bay St. Worked his way up from page boy.
My other grandfather was a merchant marine and worked as a medic on ships in WW2 for the British. When he immigrated to Canada he worked on ships and in factories for imperial tobacco and general foods.

Also, I also wondered if it was practical for Marina to have long nails in my comic and the answer is yes (but she definitely benefits from some casual sexism bc Ivanhoe would do anything too difficult for her).
I got acrylic nails last month and honestly if my job didnt require so much typing I think I'd just become one of those long nail bitches full time. Honestly, it was worth it to not have my nails snag on my clothes. I'm going to get them filled and shortened on Friday and I'm low key sad about it.
One of my slacker pokemon go friends needs to join my weekly challenge because its spin 150 pokestops and I'm in TORONTO. Theyβre wasting this opportunity because this challenge is going to be finished in about 3 minutes.

Calgary did deliver good views this morning. It's gorgeous out today and like 5C.
Oh my god I just saw the most cowboy-ass cop walking through the airport. Wearing your usual cop clothes but with a cowboy hat and buddy was walking down the hallway like he was preparing for a shootout at high noon. Like that bow legged cowboy walk.
Part of me is pissed off because like, is my time not important? But part of me also really chaos and unpredictability. It's fun having a story to tell. And if I'm being honest I like the highs and the lows of this shit.
No new page of Maritonia this week because my 3 hour flight turned into a 3 day adventure. I'm just going to do a two page release next week instead.
