🧠 The Lipid #Brain Atlas is out now! If you think #lipids are boring and membranes are all the same, prepare to be surprised. Led by @lucafusarbassini.bsky.social with Giovanni D'Angelo's lab, we mapped membrane lipids in the mouse brain at high resolution.

And I was immensely proud of Francisco Almeida for being awarded the 2025 European Society for Neuroradiology Scientific Award for his work showing that #Lewy body co-pathology impacts brain atrophy & cognition in Alzheimer patients.

It suggests that amygdala-predominant Lewy body is an important co-pathology in Alzheimer.
It also shows the significance of different patterns of brain proteinopathies propagation.
This can lead to better patient selection for either targeted or combined therapies.

#Amygdala-predominant #Lewy body occurs frequently in association with #Alzheimer, but its significance is not yet fully clarified.
We show here that Amygdala-predominant Lewy body was linked to:
- specific neuropsychological deficits
- focal atrophy of the right amygdala

É também relevante o acompanhamento destes doentes como demonstrado pela Prof. Isabel Santana na ULS Coimbra, liderando a implementação de biomarcadores para o diagnóstico da doença de Alzheimer em 🇵🇹 e na caracterização neuropsicológica destes doentes pela Ana Rita Silva.
