Complications Framed by the doorway, voluptuous curves were silhouetted against the much brighter corridor outside. I sat up a little straighter and ran a hand through my disheveled hair. Thought to straighten my tie, but it was nowhere to be found. The curves walked in and the sole pendant light above my desk finally illuminated her long blonde hair, chestnut skin and brown eyes. Recognized her immediately and wished I hadn’t. Last thing I needed in my life was a complication like her.

Working on another short companion piece for my MURDER ON THE STARSHIP AUSTRALIS #hardboiled #detective series. Or maybe it will become part of another book. Or maybe this is the only time it will see the light of day.

As always in #noir, things get a little... complicated.

Being excited about it feels wrong, though.

Yeah, I've considered doing it with mine, but it seems so weird. Maybe it's just my books:

The universe is vast, ancient, cold, and mostly empty, not unlike my soul before coffee.

Probably the most satisfying final hero/villain interactions in a series. I wonder if it was planned from the beginning, or if the line just came to Yost at the end.

Think I just found the denouement for my next book.
