Just finished this fascinating episode! The story was great, but I especially appreciated the discussion about the kinds of people and behaviors we consider heroic versus the ones we'd rather not think about. Very insightful and interesting 🤓
Stories like this always make me wonder what’s the line between thrill seeking and high-risk behavior. When does it stop being an adventure and start being something closer to an eating disorder, risky sexual behavior, alcoholism, etc?

The Aron Ralstoon episode of @yourewrongabout.bsky.social is definitely validating my priors that the best safety precaution you can take on a hiking trip is to turn around and go back if you have a bad feeling about things even if you can't point to a specific thing that's wrong
As always, this show really opens up a story that I thought I was familiar with - remembering the story at the time (22 years ago!) and having seen 127 Hours. But I haven't read Ralston's book and this discussion about thrillseekers and the situations they get themselves into is very interesting.
