In keeping with this, I again find myself wondering if maybe I just need a Survival Plus pack: better terrain generation, temperatures, seasons, new (but not too big!!) structures, a couple more ores.

On this note, I wonder if intuition is a thing missing from most modpacks that keeps me from getting into them as much. Too many packs - too many mods! - that hand you a tutorial booklet instead of letting you discover the mechanics yourself. It's not what I first came to Minecraft for.
