Palantir CEO Makes Shocking Confession on Disrupting Democratic Power They’re saying the quiet part out loud now.

"Palantir CEO Alex Karp says his AI technology will lessen the power of “highly educated, often female voters, who vote mostly Democrat” while increasing the power of working-class men."

Just saying it right out loud now.

Population pyramid of the UAE residence which shows a major imbalance between "male" and "female" residence, and a huge amount of males between the ages of 20-40. This is what the modern slavery Kafala system looks like in a graph.

As much schadenfreude as I feel about the gulf states experiencing the violence its been exporting for the last decade or so, I keep thinking about this fact: 86% of UAE residence are foreign-born (i.e. highly exploited Kafala system workers from south Asia and east Africa).

Social media created this nonsense idea that not exposing yourself to hatred is isolationist. Choosing to not spend your free time with bigots isn’t living in a bubble. I don’t need to know what’s going on at X. I won’t be smarter or more knowledgeable or empathic by being there. Neither will you.

The U.S. is a country that is unable to handle death but is awash in it. A country with people who often can't process grief. These are terrible things.

Americans need to really realize that they are on the precipice of horrific violence against already targeted groups by the federal government and we need to stand together as one to stop these actions or we will all fall into the abyss of violence.

Pax Judaica is an antisemitic conspiracy theory, whether you make it about Zionism/Israel or not.

And if it somehow was magically not antisemitic, it would still be an outlandish conspiracy theory. One that has gained traction in some corners of the left since Oct 7th.

There is so much anger in me for the "let it rip," "we don't need to mask/you don't need to mask" "All schools and universities must be in person" people, I think its possibly unhealthy for me

How Covid Quietly Rewires the Brain Researchers keep discovering more about the long-term neurological effects of SARS-CoV-2.

Covid can damage the brain stem, disrupt breathing, shrink memory-related regions, and leave lasting cognitive changes, even after mild cases.

With millions facing long Covid, scientists warn it may quietly accelerate dementia risk worldwide.

‘No one deserves this’: Beaverton father dies after deportation to Mexico A Beaverton family is grieving after the father, who was detained and deported by ICE, has now died.

This 53 year old man who lived in my neighborhood w/no criminal record & who had been in the US for 30 years, was detained and thrown into a cold cell for days, caught pneumonia and COVID there and deported.

He finally died.

I am so angry.

We actually have a good amount of supporters who disagree with me on a number of key issues.

Every single one of them says they’re voting for me because they know where I stand and I won’t lie to them.

The bar is in hell.

This is currently the most powerful Data Center in the world, containing literally hundreds of items of information. It is expensive (the total for all units exceeds 70€) and susceptible to nesting wasps. However this equipment represents humankind’s secure knowledge infrastructure for the future.

The Beginning Comes After the End
Notes on a World of Change
by Rebecca Solnit
Rebecca Solnit offers a thrilling account of the sheer breadth and scale of social, political, scientific, and cultural change over the past three quarters of a century.

In this sequel to her enduring bestseller Hope in the Dark, Solnit surveys a world that has changed dramatically since the year 1960. Despite the forces seeking to turn back the clock on history, change is not a possibility; it is an inevitability.

The changes amount to nothing less than dismantling an old civilization and building a new one, whose newness is often the return of the old ways and wisdoms. In this rising worldview, interconnection is a core idea and value. But because the transformation is obscured within a longer arc of history, its scale is seldom recognized.

While the white nationalist and authoritarian backlash drives individualism and isolation, this new world embraces antiracism, feminism, a more expansive understanding of gender, environmental thinking, scientific breakthroughs, and Indigenous and non-Western ideas, pointing toward a more interconnected, relational world.

I wrote a book! It's trickling out, already in some bookstores. And I'm doing a bunch of events for it (see below). More info on book in alt text.

I spent my childhood inside of American concentration camps. I know one when I see one. And that is what ICE is building.

I regularly see people wondering how it's possible that there are so many musicians and writers and film makers and artists from a tiny nation like Iceland.

And the answer is really simple: State funding for art education and artists. I literally get a salary from the government to write books.

HELLO I WAS A QUEER TEEN IN THE 1990s AND THE ARGUMENTS AGAINST SOCIAL TRANSITION NOW ARE INDISTINGUISHABLE FROM THE ARGUMENTS AGAINST "LETTING" US BE (at the time, for me) GAY OR LESBIAN THEN.

They all rest on the belief that it's inherently better to be straight (then)/cis (now) and that's BS.

Things are fundamentally shifting in this city in ways that truly are amazing and need to be widely adopted. Minneapolis is starting to build the social dictionary for the future and it’s a real view of the historic social and political change happening on the ground. Neighborism is the future.

You Know What? Maybe the Time Is Right for an AOC Presidential Bid She’s only 36, and there’s a good argument that she should run for Senate and bide her time. But she also could be a formidable White House candidate.

from the perspective of someone who might want to be president, the best time to run for the white house is now, not later. so if AOC is thinking about it — if the white house is her ambition — then her best bet is to throw her hat in the ring
