Why did you use the term "kidnapping" here? There is so much context missing from this piece.

If she was moved by her mom who had custody, why is this kidnapping? Because there was a CPS investigation? Who called for the investigation? Was the mom or another adult accused of abuse? So much going on in the world but from a media literacy and context standpoint this one's stuck in my craw.
We all need to get back into community theater and entertain one another in our backyards. Oh right we donβt have backyards. Public parks then.
AOC, though not new, is the first I've seen who hasn't hesitated to engage directly and openly with constituents and the rest of us via the media platforms we're already on. It feels more like a conversation. She explains complex situations clearly and says the quiet part out loud.
I'd rather see candidates who are PRODUCTS of the last 10 years -- e.g. Mamdani, Talarico (more women please!) -- than those who have been steeped in the system during this time. They need to be savvy, empathetic but merciless where necessary, and see the forest for the trees.
The democrats need to employ more guerrilla tactics. Like: each one of them should have held up a sign with just one of his impeachable offenses on it, so when the camera pans out they see a sea of his impeachable offenses, staring him -- and anyone willing to watch the SOTU -- in the face.
I think there is also a need to extrapolate out and connect it to current events so that people understand the valuable information they're providing in context
This is psychotic
Ah, sorry -- I just looked at your profile. I relate!
Do you have ADHD?
New piece up on my Substack (@LEDMusings), in which I outline how I'd overhaul the public education system. You know -- normal Monday afternoon stuff.

Bitter millennial here. Iβm so sick of these people. They need to get out of the way. Theyβre sinking our ship right after they eat all our food and then get airlifted out just in time. Meanwhile the people I know who are brilliant enough to lead are riddled with imposter syndrome. Over it.
I actually think paywalls have a lot to do with it.
Exactly!! Theyβre too close to their work. I worked with some professors at UCLA to translate their work into 500 word blog posts and it was so difficult for them but such a good exercise (and fun for me). A lot of it was asking follow-up Qs and drilling down to the essential βstory structure.β
Did they include anything about how he was always a sniveling, dead-eyed prick who was deplored by everyone around him for being the kind of person who used racial slurs against Mexicans in a speech to his high school? (My sources: TWO of his former classmates)
How come all of the smartest, most creative, and kindest people I know are underemployed / not being paid for their gifts, while some of the most mediocre, manipulative, and selfish people I know are swimming in money and running shit?
I already know the answer, but WTF.
So. Bad.
7 things that should be taught in every school / classroom: 1) a close read of the Constitution 2) Media Literacy 3) Emotional Intelligence 4) Conflict Resolution 5) Decoding the Medical and Insurance Industries 6) Improv (for collaboration and adaptability) 7) Nervous System + Regulating It

As someone whoβs drafted many statements like this, hereβs how I read the statement that a coalition of 60+ MN-based businesses including 3M, Best Buy, Hormel (et tu, pepperoni?), the Minnesota Vikings, and Target put out the other day: open.substack.com/pub/ledmusin...
The entire country needs to take a 1-week dopamine detox from social media and see a) if we can do it or have a true addiction b) if everyone snaps out of their respective ideological stupors like the grownups waking up from their spell-induced dance trance at the end of Hocus Pocus.
New Substack post on "Muse Meets Machine," in which I outline my process of creating a more detailed report explaining a16z's latest list of the Top 50 Gen AI Web Products, and then provide the report. Spoiler alert: this took me one million hours.

To all of our incredible #teachersky #edusky #educators: If you have any input, suggestions or requests, I'd love to create something that serves you! Thanks for doing what you do π

Are these topics you'd be interested in covering in your classrooms? Which are the most interesting to you? I feel like the media ecosystem and media literacy topics are incredibly linked and so important for young adults to understand but curious to hear thoughts.
Question for my #teachers out there: I'm working on developing communications-oriented curricula for high school students. Topics I want to cover (probably in separate curricula) include: understanding the media ecosystem, media literacy, and perhaps something around digital marketing storytelling.
