This is how our government has been corrupted:

1) Donors give huge sums to elect politicians
2) Elected officials rewrite rules in donors' favor
3) Donors make huge profit
4) Repeat

We must get big money out of politics. It’s the root of all evil in Washington.

Not quite sure the U.S. ever had the plot, but it has definitely lost it now, and the consequences are extremely deadly

Carney is basically to the right of Stephen Harper yet somehow Liberals love him. No wonder Conservative MPs have crossed the floor.

The most successful one for sure, but the first International Women’s Days were in the years preceding WWI, organized by various socialist parties in Europe. The Russian protest in 1917 was a continuation of that

The U.S. is a rogue nation with an authoritarian regime, and a state sponsor of terrorism both against its own people and abroad

(or at least, this is exactly how the U.S. would describe any other state doing what the U.S. is doing)

And yet Trump somehow thinks that Canadians would actually want to be part of the United States, a country that is becoming more unlivable by the day (unless you're incredibly rich)

Of course, between that and royalties I still haven’t earned enough from the book to cover the indexing costs + the cost of the map I commissioned and the image rights for one image, all of which I was responsible for paying … very few academic authors make money from their books

As a Canadian author in Canada, I receive a small amount annually based on public library use of my book, Stalin’s Gulag at War (UTP, 2019). It’s from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Public Lending Rights Commission. Very grateful #PublicLendingRights #BringingTheArtsToLife

The morally bankrupt Trump administration has partnered with another morally bankrupt authoritarian to declare an unprovoked war on Iran, already killing scores of civilians.

We need an immediate vote from Congress on a War Powers Resolution. Then articles of impeachment.

If America was a country filled with people where the contents of the Epstein files could take down a president we wouldn’t be in this situation to begin with. He was elected AFTER access Hollywood, child separation, covid, being found liable for sexual abuse etc.

Kansas invalidates trans residents' IDs. Read more at the link in our bio.

Kansas invalidates trans residents' IDs. Read more at the link in our bio.

People rely on their driver's licenses to meet their basic needs—like getting to work or the store—and, in Kansas, to vote.

Now, KS is stripping trans people of their accurate IDs, including driver’s licenses, in an election year.

This is dangerous & cruel voter suppression.

They won't start with banning birth control. First they'll lie about it. Then dictate who can prescribe it, use it, fund it, in what forms, and for how long. Suddenly, your doctor won't call you back. I know this is what they'll do because it's what they're doing to transgender healthcare right now.

One mile on a bike is a $.42 economic gain to society, one mile driving is a $.20 loss Copenhagen, the bicycle-friendliest place on the planet, publishes a biannual Bicycle Account, and buried in its pages is a rather astonishing fact.

“One mile on a bike is a $.42 economic gain to society, one mile driving is a $.20 loss.”

“Which means that Copenhagen, a city of 1.2 million people, saves $357 million a year on health costs because something like 80% of its population commutes by bike.” #CityMakingMath

Some costs aren’t costs.

Toronto shopping street

Half of business owners on this Toronto street estimated that more than 25% of their customers arrived by car.

In fact, it was 4%.

And the % of customers who who walked or cycled? 72%.

Retailers routinely overestimate the # of “car customers.” Via @carltonreid.com www.forbes.com/sites/carlto...

Russia: Attacks on Abortion Undermine Women’s Rights Russian authorities are restricting access to safe abortion care and limiting the ability of women and girls to get accurate information about their reproductive choices.

A new Human Rights Watch report documents how Russia is restricting abortion at all levels. Tactics include pressuring private clinics to stop doing abortions, toughening licensing requirements, revoking their licenses, and reclassifying abortion drugs as controlled substances.

Oh I fully agree the method is much different, but I'm not sure the effect is all that different. According to the libertarian CATO institute, DOGE cut about 9% of the federal workforce in the U.S.

Trump made $4B in his first year of his second term. Trump is suing the IRS for $10B. Trump just announced the US will contribute $10B to his Board of Peace. A $10 billion contribution to a Board that he chairs without congressional appropriation or authorization.

WAKE THE F*CK UP AMERICA.
