I am "over there" because most of my friends didn't stay here and slowly slouched back to familiarity. Plus, all of the Houston politicians are still there, so it's still kind of necessary to keep up to date on local politics.
Not only the background, but the *curiosity* to learn directly (from teachers, books/journals, and/or person-to-person). Also, I have no issues with the reading material coming from the Internet Archive. I use it often in that manner. Most use it for getting dead webpages.
That's good to hear. I don't know if I've had the test. But I do feel I have had all of the others ๐
Okay, thanks. I haven't had one of those. The SPECT was claustrophobia-inducing, so beware of that if you ever have one.
CT scan? As part of cardiac tests? I had tests this past January, but the only thing like a CT was the SPECT (Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography) scan.

Jason's next stop? Luxembourg.
I wrote this piece because I wanted to have a good way to advocate for bikes to right leaning people. And the Post picked it up! @thewaroncars.bsky.social @americanfietser.bsky.social @citybeautiful.nebula.tv @nerd4cities.bsky.social www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...
One observed fact I noticed while riding the bus the last couple of days:
Quite a few older people with e-bikes, and brought on board (I also like how the buses can adjust suspension for level-boarding). They were all small e-bikes, often looking more like sit-down scooters in design.
Imagine if drivers did obey the laws. All of the people making "bad driver" compilation videos would have to figure out some other monetization method.
Also, less business for wreckers, body shops, and fire departments.
I noticed quite a few folks thanking the bus driver when they got off (I did the same). It reminded me of this cut by an electro-swing Belgian group:

Have you ridden all of the different ways through and around the reservoirs? I've seen other cyclists' videos of them doing that.
It's gotten worse under our current mayor (Whitmire). He is actively tearing out the good and safe infra which the previous admin installed, and at a cost greater than it took to install it originally. We're in debt, and he's spending money to wreck the place.
I present to you all, Houston. IYKYK ๐
My first thought, too, because I live here ๐
Someday I'll have the stamina to do that kind of thing. First, to get my health in order (if I can pay for it all).
Maybe when you can afford it (after all of the higher priority bicycle gear) you could get a robot mower ๐
Getting noticed on social media is exhausting! And I want to get fiction-writings published at some point ๐
I do not miss yard work in the least. Sometimes I miss my cat, but he also shows up in dreams, so there's that.
I like to write. I like to utilize my vocabulary to keep in practice.
But, social media doesn't like writers. Readers "don't have the time" to read, to comprehend, anything which is not at a much lower comprehension level.
And thus, I have to explain myself often ๐

I did say I'd engage with you more. So, what's going on this weekend? It seems some of my time will be spent helping TwiXr users understand how to read ๐
Phrases and words people 100% ignore on social media:
seems
perhaps
maybe
"In my experience" (or basically any time a sentence starts with a prepositional phrase)
Basically, weasel words and phrases. Used to avoid an exact statement (which can be refuted) when it's all just opinion anyway.
So, my "fuck the Houston rodeo" post on TwiXr has blown up, and all because almost no one left on social media has one iota of reading comprehension left. It's really sad what the Internet has done to people's minds.

If you'd like me to engage you more over here, I'll gladly do that :-)
Maybe we'll meet up some day...
As I watch @criticalrole.bsky.social Critical Role Campaign 2, ep 105, I have to wonder what it would be like for an entire party to worship a single deity...
In the case of the Mighty Nein, if they all worshipped the Wildmother...
Yeah, the rodeo has taken over the parking lot for Metrorail for many many years now. My birthday falls in the middle of March, so I can't even take the train downtown to a couple of bars I like for a birthday drink or two. I'd have to walk a mile to catch the right bus as an alternate.
So, bummed due to no early voting, but also to learning that the infusions I need to cure a form of kidney disease are *all* "out of pocket" to the tune of $8,500. Why am I paying almost $1,000 per month for insurance if they *will*not* cover costs like that?!
Time to get drunk this evening...
I will be biking to my voting center, but not early voting now. The nearest location has been taken over by fucking price-gouging rodeo parking!
I bookmarked it to watch later, so maybe I'll do that now. He always has good videos, like the one where he was refurbishing his pantograph milling machine ๐
