I quite enjoy the show (and concept of) Is It Cake?
*But* I think the cakes are barely cakes... It's so much fondant. Like, yes, technically it's cake, but not one you'd really want to eat.

Digital illustration of an indigenous man with two braids wearing a jean jacket. There's text that reads, 'Columbus didn't discover anything.'
I test knit this sweater and it's one of my absolute favorites π
I love the peace of a mostly empty Laundromat. Excellent reading time π
(Also, a backpack style laundry bag is game changing!)
#ChildFree
We've officially hit "my glasses fog up when I step outside" weather π₯΅
1. It's useful that smoke detectors tell you when their batteries are dying.
2. But that beeping is very annoying.
3. Especially when it's your neighbor's smoke detector π
I am *begging* people to look up the actual history of the Luddite movement with it being bandied about everywhere.
They weren't anti-tech, they were anti-exploitation, anti-Industrialist, pro-worker safety textile worker radicals who disabled factory machines that were maiming and killing workers.
I want to like the rain... But these heavy downpours freak me out β
digital illustration of a subway car filled with rats. Some rats are holding signs that together read, 'fund public transit'
βI asked ChatGPTβ well I asked the three Fates and the one with the scissors got very agitated when I told her you were using your one precious life thread talking to that cursed thing
"In 1736 I lost one of my sons, a fine boy of four years old, by the small-pox, taken in the common way. I long regretted bitterly, and still regret that I had not given it to him by inoculation. This I mention for the sake of parents who omit that operation, on the supposition that they should never forgive themselves if the child died under it; my example showing that the regret may be the same either way, and that, therefore, the safer should be chosen."
Ben Franklin on vaccination. (via Mic: www.mic.com/articles/109...)
hereβs a curse word free version of βlook it upβ as requested by countless teachers and librarians π₯°π

Digital illustration featuring a large group of women of all different races, ages, sexualities, abilities and gender expressions. Thereβs text that reads, βa woman is anyone who identifies as one.'
i don't care what the courts say
It's never good when the richest person in the world and the worst person in the world are the same person.
A knit colorwork sock in progress. Behind it is an airplane window. Out the window is the sunrise and an airplane wing.
A knit ribbed sock in progress is in the foreground. In the middle ground is the prow of a boat (which the sock is on). In the background is a large container ship.
I'm going with last week's #ShowMeYourKnits prompt: wips. This is my oldest sock wip and my most recent cast on. The old one has been in progress (aka timeout) for almost 11 years now π
The newest was just started last week -- the qualifying round for SockMadness.
A small Tamarin (monkey) peeks out from dense foliage. It looks at a white person's hand reaching towards it. The hand has bits of banana on the palm
The monkey is licking a piece of banana off the hand
A (wild) monkey ate out of my hand today. It licked me! ππ
It was incredible!
If you ever visit Panama, I highly recommend a boat tour of the islands on Gatun Lake! We saw 3 kinds of monkeys: Geoffroy's Tamarins, Capuchins, and Howler monkeys! (Also iguanas and a sloth)
A mosaic crochet blanket in progress, worked from the center outwards. The pattern is a series of diamonds/squares
A mosaic crochet blanket displayed on a queen sized bed. The blanket has a striking floral design in the center and a bright yellow border.
The #CrochetAway prompt this week is blankets. I love a crochet blanket - there are such gorgeous patterns, and often deceptively simple to make. This is one I made last year (Topkapi by Juli Gittinger) and the one I'm currently working on (Lucy in the sky blanket by Vio Vieux)
Knit shawl modeled on a dress form. The shawl is striped and color blocked and showcases a mosaic panel which looks like a braided cable.
The same shawl, but laid out flat
It's stripes for #ShowMeYourKnits this week! And what wonderful timing since I've just finished this project: Mosaic Cable Shawl by Shuyi Wu

Being pro-Black means celebrating Black culture, history, and progress. Itβs about uplifting a community thatβs faced systemic oppression, not tearing anyone else down. Supporting Black empowerment doesnβt mean being anti-whiteβitβs about equality and justice for everyone.
Digital illustration of a large diverse group of Black people of different ages, genders, sexualities, and ability. The color palette is orange and green. Text reads, 'Black futures matter.'

A display of handknit mittens. There's a light blue pair completely finished, a rainbow gradient pair almost done, and a longer (bright green, cabled, fingerless) pair which still needs a little more than half the second mitt.
I'd call that a pretty successful weekend knitalong π
#SkyKal #KnitSky
3 knit cuffs in different stages of progress. One green and cabled, one teal/pink gradient, one light blue in seed stitch
Weekend mitten-along with some friends π
Mine are the light blue ones (I'm double dipping with the #SkyKal )
#KnitSky
I do love a knitalong! I'm thinking it's probably time for a new pair of mittens ππ§Ά
A light brown knit hat with cables, modeled on a styrofoam head.
The same knit hat, but this view shows the crown. The cables all come together at the top, kinda like a flower
This week's #ShowMeYourKnits prompt is cables. My most recent cabled project is the Glenfidditch hat by Thea Coleman ππ§Ά
Digital illustration of the faces of six people who use birth control. There are various reasons including 'managing illness, bleeding on your own terms, regulating menstrual cycles and preventing pregnancy. There's big text that reads, 'we must fight to protect our right to birth control.'
Digital illustration of a diverse group of eight faces. Thereβs text in the center that reads, βabortion is freedom,β with secondary text scattered throughout the image that reads, βfrom poverty, from a future I donβt want, from a life threatening pregnancy and from the wrong partner.β
There are endless reasons someone may need birth control and abortion, but above all: it is our RIGHT.
Welp. I'm definitely gonna have to knit this ππ§Άπ
A white woman in a knit sweater. The sweater has a wide band of colorwork around the yoke and additional smaller bands at the hem and cuffs. The design at the center front is a large Swallowtail butterfly.
The same sweater, but from the back.
I love that #ShowMeYourKnits is a thing ππ§Ά This is my Swallowtail (designed by Jamie Hoffman), which I knit for Rhinebeck 2024.
