So, I think if someone claims certain politics, they have a baseline responsibility to let the stuff brought up in the 2nd screenshot inform (and temper) their expectations of left-ish messaging from celebrities/companies. Thankfully, that’s really easy to do. I do it plenty watching AEW!
It can become much harder for people to get care/safety/justice, as one example, when harmed by someone, or a company/org, that has cultivated a reputation of being progressive/left that is reflexively defended by enough people, an example that feels at least somewhat pertinent to this situation.
I don’t disagree! I also think adults should get to “not expecting celebrities to act in ideological harmony w/leftist beliefs” before things like this happen, bc putting celebrities + companies on moral pedestals has consequences. Not saying you weren’t already there, but plenty others were not.

That’s not what she said tho. It doesn’t entirely prevent transmission. U can see this by the covid in the wastewater & the numerous studies on reinfections in vaccinated pops. U can also see it in the moving goal posts of blue team, from “breakthrus are rare” to “you will get it 1x/yr like flu”
It’s also bizarre that he continually attacks actual public health advocates and disabled people who don’t have the luxury of buying into his vax and relax style of liberal denialism (which again, is the number 1 on-ramp to actual anti vaxx beliefs). It’s good to see people fact checking his BS below that thread, but it’s frustrating that a podcaster who allegedly built a brand off science continues to spout Covid denialist slop after admitting he doesn’t even keep up with the research on Covid (which continues to show how dangerous it is)
Personally if I had a massive platform that I built in part by branding myself as someone who picks apart scientific methodology I would not use it to undermine the work of disabled folks fighting for their lives + ignoring/misrepresenting the sources they cite. But then again, I'm not a grifter so

Overstating the efficacy of our current vaccines and lying to people about the limitations, as Michael and many in the COVID denialist movement do, is actually the number 1 driver of anti vaxx sentiment. People are told they can’t get covid if they get a shot, they get it and immediately lose trust
I don’t know why Michael fell into Covid denialism years ago and hasn’t found his way out but this is false. Our current vaccines do not meaningfully reduce transmission, and they certainly do not meaningfully prevent long covid. This is what any long covid treatment center will tell u day 1
Calling a very well known vaccine advocate “anti vaxx” because she VERY correctly calls for people to take supportive measures like masking since our current vaccines do not stop transmission is wild.
