We use streamlit committing Jsons to BitBucket for collecting versioned inputs. Certainly the law of the hammer at work, but it was quick and highly customizable: We have filters, forms to edit multiple rows, a few different views on the same data, and some automated validation.

For reading and annotating PDFs I switched to Zotero when Mendeley sold out. Less user friendly, but works for me.

For other notes I use Google Keep, sharing the shopping list is just too convenient 🀐

I always use special relativity as a counter example to heros, as allegedly even Einstein said it was "ripe for discovery". To me, the proposition of spin soubded so outlandish, it might have taken decades for someone else to pull it off, but I'm no historian πŸ˜…

In large parts of Switzerland it's almost rude to call someone by their actual name. A friend didn't even know my real name after several year of highschool in the same class and was very confused when meeting my parents speaking about some Philipp 🀷

AI Death Metal Generator Using ARCHSPIRE As Source Material - Metal Injection It's doing a shockingly good job.

Death metal seems to come naturally to neural nets, I got into Archspire because of this: metalinjection.net/news/metal-s...

The paper on real-time optimization of transport chains for single wagon load we presented is on the arXiv now.

It's my first on trains, but I already have one on cows, so if you study cheese or chocolate and need some numbers crunched, please hit me up 😊

At least some lens replacements after cataract surgery make it harder to read bright letters on dark backgrounds than dark letters on bright backgrounds.

I'm attending #RailDresden2025, my first international conference on maths for trains. Earlier today I saw a talk about planning metro line 5 in Chongqing, e.g. at what station to turn or to split, now one about organizing freight rail crew trips in India taking up to 72h 🀯

Fingers crossed Einstein's actually biggest Eselei was when he said he wanted to die in Switzerland, because in Switzerland everything happens twenty years later.

Seeking an Autism Diagnosis? Here’s Why You Might Want to Rethink That. Know the costs β€” and the legal risks.

Glad we all agree that autism does not cause Nazi salutes, but I read insensitive takes on self-diagnosis. Devon Price has spoken to countless neurodivergent persons and written extensively about self-diagnosis and the cost of a diagnosis.

I certainly hope so, but thinking about replacing the Ricochet with a tallonelectric.com/products/the... for good measure 😊

Hello πŸ‘‹ I enjoy my feed here, but the way I know myself, I'll likely stay rather quiet. I occasionally post technical stuff at mathstodon.xyz/@germannp where you can write more and use formulas 😊

Diffusion normally averages out differences. But two diffusing chemicals or genes coupled with negative feedback can lead to repeating spot and stripes. These Turing pattern likely not only give rise to skin patterns e.g. on fishes, but also the skeletal pattern leading to our fingers and toes.
