In a few hours I will be presenting my report on #cleanair to the Human Rights Council, also linked to the importance of complying with obligations, including access to justice and remedy.
This is a very important case for the right to a healthy environment, as all States have the obligation to protect #environmentalhumanrightsdefenders. In this case, all those who had been involved in achieving this awaited compensation.
Kenya ๐ฐ๐ช: Specially this week, I am closely following the court's ruling about the remediation and compensation for the residents of Owino Uhuru, who were impacted by lead poisoning from a metal refinery.

It was an honour to meet @srenvironment.bsky.social at the Pathways to Breathe Clean Air event this week, and hear insights from a range of experts in the field. The wide-ranging impacts of #AirPollution are no secret - we echo Astrid's call for governments to accelerate #CleanAir action.
This call is ahead of the 31st session of the International Seabed Authority (#ISA).
๐States have obligations to protect the marine environment and the climate system that are owed to the international community as a whole.
@un-spexperts.bsky.social urge States to ensure that any new regulations for deep-sea mining are grounded in international law, including international human rights law, and implement the precautionary principle.
