A Magic The Gathering card: Admiral Brass, Unsinkable. When Admiral Brass, Unsinkable enters the battlefield, mill four cards. At the beginning of combat on your turn, you may return target Pirate creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield with a finality counter on it. It has base power and toughness 4/4. It gains haste until end of turn. (If a creature with a finality counter on it would die, exile it instead.)
I played MTG's EDH/Commander format for the first time ever last night with a heavily modified pre-con centered around pirates, theft, and recursion. Once I got the gist of piloting my new deck, I had a really fun time! Big thanks to my local game shop GamesPlus.
After over 2 years of not working regularly, I scored a full-time job at the local hobby/TCG shop. During my interview, I hit 'em with this absolute gem. Can you blame them for hiring me? Yeeeeesh.

I'll admit, this is no longer my main. I do come by now and again. So there is that, I suppose.
Hope you all had a Merry Xmas, and I wish you all nothing but the best for 2026!

J. Warren Welch Many years ago I had an enlightenment experience Where I understood how connected We all are When the acid wore off I realized that I don't really want To be connected to Most of you Motherfuckers
Current mood in America:
Bourdain quote about dictators and complicity: "Dictators tend to eat really really badly, you know, they insist on it. Itβs like the super rich! I mean, where do they go? Thereβs all these great Italian restaurants in the city but they go to Cipriani, you know, they go to Nello, they pay a hundred and twenty bucks for a bowl of spaghetti pomodoro or whatever theyβre paying. Why? Because they want to live in that bubble. The one thing they can be guaranteed there or at Philippe or Mr. Chow or places like that is that they wonβt be called out by a normal person who is pointing out the obvious. Your plastic surgery is botched. You know, regardless of what your friends tell you, youβre an evil person, and youβre eating really shitty food, which youβre paying too much for. Those places, theyβre insulated from that, you know. You want complicity, everyone at Cipriani is complicit, you know, everyone who goes to Nello or Philippe or Mr. Chow, understands that they are signing on to, uh. The despotsβ club."
I had the pleasure of seeing him when he did a speaking tour over 10+ years ago. One of the few "celebrities" that I truly miss now that they are gone. He had such a genuine nature, it was hard not to be captivated by his presence alone.
I'm not sure what I just watched, but I don't think anything is ever going to be the same for me again.

One more:
Tales/Crypt: Demon Knight is a favorite 90s horror gem. William Sadler anchors a larger cast of solid character actors, including T. Hayden Church, and then up-and-coming Jada Pinkett. Billy Zane chews the scenery as the batshit baddie. A great 90s soundtrack too. All around fun, imho.
Protest dogs are the best dogs.
Mural by JDL Street Art in Roubaix, Lille, France, depicting the Statue of Liberty covering her face with both hands in a gesture of shame. The figure is painted in shades of grey with teal accents on the torch and crown, set against a muted background with a golden halo-like circle. The artwork spans the side of a tall brick building, contrasting modern street art with historic European architecture in the surrounding cityscape.

Even Kevin Smith calls it his least favorite in the View Askewniverse, but I like the meta nature of the film and even after repeated viewings I find the frequent cameos as charming as ever.

Painted this a while ago, but one of my favorites - I used black alcohol ink to bring out the grimy details. Cleric of Lathander.
