It's @barnesandnoble.com! Check out this incredible news! @shortwavebooks.bsky.social and B&N are teaming up for an Exclusive Edition of my upcoming short story collection!
Nothing more thrilling than waking up to these large wholesale orders from Barnes & Noble. I could get used to this.
I've started checking our Simon & Schuster Publisher Portal even before my own inbox each morning. π
Hey, @natcassidy.bsky.social in da house! Loved Rest Stop (review in Locus, if thatβs your thing). Anyway, homie got some talented new guy named @stephenking.bsky.social to write the intro, which is exactly the kind of stuff Nat deserves. (@alandistro.bsky.social)
Full wrap reveal for @natcassidy.bsky.social's I KNOW A PLACE.
Designed by @alandistro.bsky.social, this will be our first embossed cover (feel the keys and poke the googly eyes!) and our first book over 500 pages (look at that chonky spine!).
I KNOW A PLACE will be released May 5th everywhere!

Cover reveal time for @comptonwrites.bsky.social's CHIMERA SKIN, a short science-fiction horror novel.
First contact. Apocalyptic. A messianic alien. This is unlike anything you've read from Johnny before!

Also, bonus points: I sent them my layered file for the cover art so they could design and build whatever their art team thought would work best for the audiobook. They kept my cover. They didn't change a single pixel. Given the size and budget of their art department vs me, that was a proud moment.
I just heard an early mix of the audiobook version of "A Fruiting Body" from @natcassidy.bsky.social's I KNOW A PLACE, as performed by four narrators (one of whom was Nat himself), and the audio performance elevated an already unsettling story to a chills-and-shivers level of creepy. π
The cover art for The Other, next to the description: A couple meet their doppelgangers on a hiking trail while camping and are soon tested on how well they truly know the other.
THE OTHER cover reveal! The second book in @annieneugebauer.bsky.social's The Outsiders Sequence, out June 9th in paperback and eBook. Pre-orders are available now everywhere books are sold.

I use Shopify for @shortwavebooks.bsky.social as I needed something that just worked and accepted almost all payment methods, offered digital downloads and physical items in the same order, etc. No solution is perfect, but this one has worked well for us over the last 3.5 years.
Cover reveal time!
Christoph Paul's (@clashbooks.bsky.social) double creature feature THE LAST HOUSE ON EARTH / DEATH WALKS SOUTH BOSTON is out this August. Pre-orders are now available.

The cover for Gore Poetics, Stories by Samir Sirk MoratΓ³. The cover features glistening intestines with two black pearls at the center. The text is a dark pink and flows with the texture of the intestines.
COVER REVEAL AND PREORDER ANNOUNCEMENT!
Gore Poetics by @spicycloaca.bsky.social is coming April 14th. It's strange, transgressive, and visceral--just like its cover by @sloppjockey.bsky.social with typography by @alandistro.bsky.social!

Let me tell you, the day I boxed up this book, wrote a little thank you note, and addressed it to "Steve King" was one of the most surreal days of my life.
Hope you enjoy! I'm going to switch gears for a book or two and then jump into book four. Excited for it.
Matt Dinniman is writing the introduction to one of our upcoming collections (Philip Fracassi's Traps and Specters) so I started reading Dinniman's Dungeon Crawler Carl series recently. I just finished book three and am a little obsessed at this point. π»π¦π¨
Clay went live on instagram today and read the first chapter from his upcoming book. It was a lot of fun.
Working on the layout for a brand-new fiction story we're publishing to Shortwave Magazine later this week, and it is the perfect blend of sci-fi and horror that I keep craving.
I've read it half a dozen times already and I can't wait to read it half a dozen more.
Congrats! Huge! I need to do this at some point (I also have one behind the other, I hate it visually when I talk/smile, physically when it makes things more difficult to chew/brush etc) but the potential cost and pain and regular check-ups (diagnosed agoraphobic) has kept me from actually doing it.
I can't stress enough how important it is to experience art with people who will allow you to feel emotions without mockery.
Any writer who thinks their cover is "nonessential" is in for a very rude awakening when they try to sell their book to readers. At point of sale, I would argue the cover is the most essential element, next to a great blurb/description.
So sorry, Mae.
Head over to YouTube and watch "Home Alone - SNL" uploaded three days ago. ;)

I think this constantly
The order of the TOC has changed like three times since these were printed, and will likely change again, because I am a monster to work with, but that also makes these even more collectible, right? (Also, @alandistro.bsky.social is a goddamn design genius.)
How cool!
I've been a big fan for a while, even wrote this ridiculous deep dive into his debut album: forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/supe...
If you get a chance to read his autobiography at some point, it's pretty entertaining, and I knew nothing about the second half of his career in tech before reading it.
