A special thank you to the anonymous reviewers and all those who provided initial feedback on our paper!
These episodes show that domestic contestation does not have to be about foreign policy roles themselves to shape said roles. It also reveals some of the domestic dynamics of financial and military support to Ukraine we see recurrently, including news of Germany's Taurus missiles.
We observe how policy contestation over the type, speed and scale of support given to Ukraine gave meaning and direction to the UK and Germanyβs role as a faithful ally. We look at domestic debates about supplying Leopard 2 tanks and increasing financial sanctions.
