Had to re sort my beads a couple of weeks ago… last night I checked beads for next 3 projects and found I didn’t have most/enough of what I needed for them. I didn’t need an excuse to visit the ThreadABead shop in Llandudno but that’s my plan for Monday, can see another Delica bead shuffle looming
Not a 5 minute wonder for me … I started lacemaking in the early 1980s, still making lace, and I teach it and make YouTube videos on it now as well. Currently teaching myself Idrija lace which makes a change from the complex Belgian laces I love

I was originally self taught too in the early 1980’s from a magazine and then a book, think it’s made me a better teacher as i had to figure out a lot around what the written words were telling me myself
Can’t believe his well they all turned out. Thought at lunch time they wouldn’t all finish but they did and they have all done such a good job, it’s hard for them when everyone has find a good job as they’ve not some that aren’t as good to compare to!
Today I’ve been teaching the first North Cheshire Lacemakers Group Beginners Day. We were joined by 4 total beginners and 1 with a few lessons. 4 NCLG members helped welcome our visitors. We had 4 cloth stitch snake at the end of class! So proud of everyone! #lace #SnakeBook #Lacelesson #handmade
Ok, I can see something outside the pins but it should be inside the cloth pins in Flanders, not outside like in Torchon for instance
In Flanders there should be a gimp thread around cloth areas

Would never take this piece out demonstrating as it would put everyone off but most laces have a lot less, if you can count to 4 we will tell you you can make lace as you only work with 4 bobbins at once. If helps if you know your left and right too (but ok if you have to think about it!)
If you want to create in bobbin lace it would need to be in braid lace, you would need to be able to draw the rounds in paths that can join into each other, ideally some continuous. Will be much larger. I would use it as inspiration for other bobbin lace but the result would be very different
I’ve done some Torchon and Brugge videos so far, I would like to do Binche, my Torchon start with coloured working diagrams from the start as then you aren’t battling diagrams as well, I’m @susan-lace-beads on YouTube

98 bobbins is nothing for a piece of Binche! If you ultimately want to try Binche the best thing you can do now is work on bobbin management (keeping the bobbins in order on stitch holders is key to this), continental bobbins are a lot easier to stack than Midlands bobbins
