We used to want to send our best and brightest to Washington.
Now, I'm not even sure we're sending our 50th percentile.

Totally.
The amount of things I need to pay attention to and
how much I care about responding to texts are inversely proportional.
From your mouth to God's ears.
Same. I'd be feeling smug if my emotional capacity weren't overloaded with rage and disgust.
100%. The Epstein stuff is the sickness in our society but boiled down into a digestible horror story. The elites rolling over to let Trump terrorize American cities, tank the economy, take us to war, is just another sign that the people in charge dgaf about us and think they're immune to blowback.
Stonks meme except a construction worker in front of construction with the word "bild" as in "build"
YIMBYs only want one thing and it's disgusting.
Whoa whoa whoa is that at all of them? I was just at mine here in Austin a few days ago and not a crawdaddy in sight!
Maybe we're nearing the nadir. Where we can all look around and go, "this? this is how we want to live?" and determine to make better decisions tomorrow. Every day the question remains: how much lower can we go before we stand up together and refuse to let ourselves sink any further?
Being hopeful in spite of the gloom machine's relentless output. It's hard. But what else is there?
Right. Talarico doesn't need to win the Republicans. He just needs them to stay home.
Zohran showed it can be done!
Please God, may Los Angeles finally elect someone who understands the actual crisis it's been facing for almost two decades.
Gemini can detect photographs made using Nano Banana, tho to your point, its use beyond that narrow focus is limited to none.
I'm not sure I understand you. What do you mean by "AI is useless for this purpose"?
Are we sure this is real and not AI? I fed it to Gemini and it said "likely AI" but couldn't confirm.
Currently reading The Coddling of the American Mind and while I am very, very late to the party I bet there was a totally normal discussion around this book online when it came out, right?
Truly an Alien vs Predator situation.
No matter who wins...we lose.
I'm going to bang the drum again: This is (partly) downstream of the Democrats not presenting an alternative positive vision for the country.
And most importantly, everyone across the spectrum needs to get offline.
With that all said, I'm gonna go touch some grass and look at the clouds.
As much as people on Bluesky like to shit on Abundance, at least that book takes the once-inaudacious stance of painting a vision of a near-future that's better than today.
To me, once we re-establish a law-based society, or as part of it, we need to reinvigorate hope. It means tackling systemic issues. It means expecting our representatives to do their jobs. It means imagining a future better than today, far better than yesterday.
Wealth is not it. We've always been great when we are creating a bold future. But the Trump era is the antithesis of Obama's promise of hope. Trump is the Hopeless America. It's backwards looking. Our culture is all nostalgia. Where's the new stuff taking over the mainstream?
Americans need a mission.
Get to space.
Beat the commies.
Invent the future.
But since ~2008 give or take (or 2001 if you're even more pessimistic), we've been a rudderless society. More people now value money over community, family, or friendships.
We need to give people something to strive for.
Just want to say that if you are a non-fiction author, I am definitely going to prefer if you read your own book.
Say what you will about audiobooks but if it weren't for them I wouldn't have read any books since my baby was born.
Cool! Can't wait to watch.
Wasn't it just November?
😬😬😬
three choice question: "What do you think is the probability of a catastrophic stock market crash in the U.S., like the "dot-com bubble" in 2000 or the 2008 financial crisis, in the next 6 months? 1. Not at all probable 2. Somewhat probable 3. Very probable
My financial institution asked me to fill out a questionnaire. Kinda uh doom-oriented if you ask me.
