Anti-abortion states are stepping up efforts to criminalize abortion -- and it could affect people's access to quality healthcare. @michelebgoodwin.bsky.social says those states' "hostile, toxic environment" is a "threat" to health and doctors' ability to provide care. #Velshi

The image is a Canadian postage stamp featuring a portrait of Chloe Cooley. The background depicts a serene riverside scene with a small boat on the water and cliffs in the distance, painted in soft, natural hues. Chloe Cooley is shown wearing a headscarf and a shawl over a dress with a white blouse underneath. The stamp has the word "CANADA" at the top left and "CHLOE COOLEY" at the bottom, along with a small maple leaf symbol with a "P" in the top right corner, indicating its postal value. The overall design is artistic and historical, paying tribute to Chloe Cooley.
It is Black History Month and each day this month I am sharing stories from Canada's Black history.
Today it is the story of Chloe Cooley. She was an enslaved person whose story led to the first legislation in the British colonies to restrict the slave trade.

The photo features a man dressed in a red shirt, black vest, and black cowboy hat, holding a guitar. He is kneeling on one knee, extending his hand towards a beaver, which is standing on its hind legs and appears to be giving him a high-five or paw-shake. Here are some details: Man: He has a friendly expression, wearing attire reminiscent of a country or folk musician. The guitar he's holding is acoustic with a sunburst finish, indicating it might be a classic or vintage model. Beaver: The beaver is depicted in a very human-like interaction, standing upright and engaging in a gesture typically associated with humans, adding a humorous and whimsical element to the image. Background: The background is a solid light blue, which keeps the focus on the subjects without distraction.
I'm sharing an image a day to celebrate the vibrant and unique culture and history of Canada.
Today, it is possibly the most Canadian photo ever. Stompin' Tom Connors shaking hands with a beaver.

The image is a black and white portrait of an older woman with short, wavy hair, wearing glasses. She is dressed in a dark-colored top with a light-colored blouse or shirt underneath. The photograph has a classic, vintage feel, likely from the mid-20th century, given the style of clothing and the quality of the photograph. The woman is looking directly at the camera with a slight smile.
