Shame on University of Alberta. Scary times for Canada.
Shame on University of Alberta. Scary times for Canada.
The University of Alberta Board and senior administration need to stop slashing Arts and other units in favour of others. This is deeply wrong and shortsighted. No university truly flourishes unless its Arts and natural sciences are flourishing.

PM @mark-carney.bsky.social has the problem of Trump, yes, but also the problem of Trump’s fifth columnist @ABDanielleSmith.
If Smith dares to stoke the fires of separation further by proceeding to a costly referendum, the ultimate cost of its failure needs to be her resignation.
I said almost exactly the same thing in a post of mine.
There is hope in this dark time when the higher education sector is standing up to the bullying tactics of the Trump Administration - quite unlike their cowardice during the period of McCarthyism in the 1940s and 50s.
It pains me that Jorge Bergoglio had to spend any part of his final day on Earth in the presence of a man who represents the opposite of everything Bergoglio stood for as Pope Francis.

338 analysis shows 3 ridings in Calgary and 5 in Edmonton as “toss ups” between LIB and CON. Wouldn’t it be nice if YYC and YEG sent 8 LIB MPs from these ridings? And send @ABDanielleSmith a message of Albertans rejecting her separatist crap?

Sound familiar, #ualberta?
“Many [university] boards have become political wolves in the guise of fiduciary sheep.”
Remember, the current Board chair refused to defend the university against half a billion $ in cuts across 4 years by the UCP.

Amongst the horrors of this genocide, this stands out as an especially grotesque instance of dehumanization.

The elite war against public wellbeing proceeds.
I was just told that I have to remove “climate” from the title of an ongoing grant if I want to keep it. And publications from that grant cannot include “climate” and other forbidden words. I can’t believe I’m writing this from the United States of America. #AcademicSky
