I have always loved public libraries, but having young children has exponentially increased my gratitude and sense of indebtedness to them. Our local library is such a huge part of our lives. The books, the programming, the very intentionally curated kids’ section. It’s all such a gift.

If you’re looking for a free way to support an author, did you know you can ask your library to stock a book you want to read that they don’t have yet? And usually it’s a very basic online form? Google your library name plus the words “request a title” or “suggest a title” to find yours.

Just realized some of the self-protective behaviours I picked from using other social media platforms, such as being a mute spectator, are no more needed here, and its liberating! It’s such a joy to freely “like” and “repost”, without worrying about being a fodder for “ad”versarial algorithms!

Libraries are absolutely the best places on earth.

Subtitles aren’t just for deaf or hard of hearing players. They’re important for players in loud environments (who can’t use headphones), non-native speakers who rely on text to follow dialogue, and many neurodivergent folks who struggle to focus or process audio quickly. Just to mention few.
