My rough timeline:
If the Strait reopens in the coming week, we have weeks of energy market disruption ahead but things have settled by the Autumn.
If the Strait is closed for another 3/4 weeks we have months of disruption.
If the Strait is closed for longer things get very bad, very quickly.

2) mojtaba khameini in charge
3) regime making big money from oil export
4) knowledge base, enriched uranium stocks, and strong motivation to build a nuclear bomb asap

8 Things We've Learned From The First Batch Of Peter Mandelson Files
Including the ex-ambassador's "inappropriate" demands for severance pay...
1st batch of Mandelson vetting documents points to 2 things. The Government knew plenty (if not everything) about Mandelsonβs relationship with Epstein, sufficient for Jonathan Powell, Starmerβs NSA director to raise a π©. McSweeneyβs opinion was preferred

People mocking this seemingly don't understand electoral politics very well.
This position plays well with the kind of older Tory voters Davey needs to keep onside (it was the "blue" wall remember), while the kind of liberal voters who find it a bit cringe aren't going to ditch LDs over this.

Badenoch and Farage are in a mess over Iran because there was an opportunity to 'own the libs' and they took it unthinkingly.
It's all about owning the libs.

It's also totally insane that Trump was either unaware until today's media reports that Iran could mine the Straight of Hormuz or discounted the threat.
And what's his grand plan to stop them from playing this card that could ruin his quick and easy exit? Threaten Iran with... more military action.

This could be the moment that Trump loses control.
He could end military action tonight, but if Iran mines the Strait of Hormuz, there's nothing he can do to rapidly mitigate the economic damage as demining could take months.
Trump can't overcome this with a TruthSocial post. No quick & easy exit.

A lot of people on Bluesky sneering at this. But Russia has no interest in helping Iran, apart from the fact they're a key regional ally, they sell them Shahed drones, and that a prolonged war and with it rising energy costs help the Russian economy.

This very straight news piece buried deep within the FT never uses words like corruption or insider dealing but every detail is quietly devastating. Why is the FT virtually alone in the UK media in covering this important story?

Polanski basically seems to have a grasp on politics/policy which is very similar to the average left-ish normie, which is good for becoming popular but has no follow through for governance.
