Unfortunately, it will be a short trip because Trump is turning the USA into Hell on Earth. As the rich take all the money from the rest of us, and use AI to run their companies, we're left to sift through trash heaps to make a living, just like the poorest folks in India.
"The opposite" of "nation-building wars" is what, "nation-destroying wars?" What happens to those destroyed nations? Trump has not announced a viable end game, simply telling people in Iran who don't have guns to take over from the folks who do have guns. How stupid is that?
Iran has not been able to shoot down any US aircraft. But somehow, Kuwait shot down not one, not two, but THREE of our planes. Whose incompetence led to that mistake?

Israel should have taken over the education of Palestinians after 1967. They didn't and allowed Palestinian kids to be taught to be terrorists. Which is what they were getting taught before 1967. That's why.
The real question is what do we do with the unemployed people who no longer have any income to support the economy. 2nd Great Depression? Or some form of socialism with Universal Basic Income? The tech bros want authoritarianism to stop socialism. Will the people allow it?
I still believe that the most likely scenario is slow adoption, huge crash in the AI debt market, then bug fixes and lower costs due to huge discounts on infrastructure, followed by rapid adoption where the value proposition makes sense.
I will speculate that Trump uses the SOTU speech to announce that the bombing campaign is already underway.

As a committed follower of Barry Goldwater, I will say that no true libertarian (small "L") should ever vote for a Republican. Democrats have a lot of flaws, but they are substantially more "pro-liberty" than are modern Republicans.

And we need to raise the limit for taxing income to benefit Social Security (while keeping the benefit capped). Also, we need to ensure that Social Security does not go broke in the early 2030s (not far away). Health care for younger people is cheaper than for old people. Cover us all!
The US needs to be more like Norway. GoFundMe should not be used for necessities. Getting sick should not mean a trip to Bankruptcy Court. We should just pass Medicare for all (thanks Bernie) and raise the Social Security and Medicare taxes to actually fund the needs. It only takes a little bit more

The alternative path is socialism where the rich get taxed to give a Universal Basic Income (UBI) to the poor. The wealthy are currently spending as much money as possible to establish a fascist oligarchy to prevent the poor from voting themselves into power. That's what's happening with AI.
The "both" scenario involves "bust" first, when AI fails to meet the predicted demand (a virtual certainty, per Ed). Then, the technological bugs get worked out over time, and most people become "essentially unemployable." From there, two paths diverge. The current path leaves most people very poor.
Fortune reports on a speech by Fed Gov. Barr. @edzitron.com Ed Zitron is predicting this sentence from Barr: "When anticipated demand falls short, the risk of financial stress increases." I'm predicting eventually a mass of “essentially unemployable" workers. Maybe both?
