After a week of telescopes but no clear skies, I went to Uluru where I had clear skies but no telescope. Even with the naked eye, the southern hemisphere is spectacular. Seeing the center of our galaxy at the zenith was like seeing a giant version of an edge on galaxy like NGC 4565.

Thanks! Last year it was cloudy all 7 nights, for the first time in the 30 year history of the event. Hopefully I'll have better luck this time....
