Huge respect for Starmer who took the right decision at the start despite so much vicious criticism. A leader worth supporting.

You really think its ok to put Bishops alongside corrupt donors in your list? You may think they shouldn’t be there, but they are men and women of integrity who do a great deal of good. Shame on you.

Is this really how the world went to war? Pity the diplomat who sees their honest efforts for peace go up, literally, in smoke. The story is fiction, but the shocking facts are real

Wildlife to replace historical characters on Bank of England banknotes Nature was the most popular theme among the public, with the new notes designed to deter counterfeiting.

Fully support wildlife featuring on our banknotes, but it’s sad to see that plants will, once again, be treated merely as a pretty floral background to β€˜animals & birds’. Why not feature Bluebell (the nations’ favourite wildflower) or iconic Lady’s-slipper Orchid? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I think they have now started inspecting academies as they do schools. A good change.

According to Schools Week the Aspirations Academy Trust CEO paid himself between Β£275,000 and Β£280,000 in 2024-25 and his deputy (his wife) Β£225,000 to Β£230,000. Nine other CEOs were paying themselves more than this. /contd

I’m sorry about that. But looking more widely at what KS does and says I am sure it was not an attack on immigrants- though clumsily phrased. He clearly says he supports diversity. I want to give him a chance - bound to make some mistakes and press is hostile, but 🀞going in right direction.

Yes. Also sorts of β€˜inspiration’ for craft ideas that is not real and isn’t achievable. But people don’t realise and still think some skilful person made it.

Mine too. I’m really sad about it. I thought he was a good bloke.

I didn’t lecture you. I have immigrants in my family. Please can I ask you to look again and consider it was actually intended to mean we don’t want to be an island of strangers, so we need to make sure things work fairly for all - immigrant and non-immigrant. Then you can have hope.

Firstly read it in context. He did not say we are a nation of strangers he warned against divisions that might lead to that. Secondly he has acknowledged it wasn’t the best way to say what he intended.

Starmer is a decent guy, and has handled the complexities of the Iranian situation very well, including resisting a mad US President trying to drag the UK into an illegal war which has no UN mandate. I simply can't understand why there is this constant barrage of criticism and hate.

Read this as our leaders should put this before Big Tech’s bottoms πŸ˜‚

What sort of chair do you have?

Walk into a sandwich shop. It’s regulated for health and safety.

But AI, which will transform the world economically and socially, is completely unregulated. That’s insane.

We need to make certain that AI works for ALL humanity, not just the billionaires who own it.

You really think they don’t? How easy it is to sit in an armchair and criticise after the event. We need to say over and over the fault lies with a hostile press.

Sorry - misread. Was linked to person who blamed KS for the phrasing. So easy to muddle little sound bites

Among my friends most of us are looking after grandchildren at least one day a week. One friend does 5 days for multiple children. Without us those parents could not be at work. Its partly high costs but also lack of available, appropriate care. Imagine if we all stopped.

My wife and I take our granddaughter to a play group every week. The overwhelming majority of children there are accompanied by grandparents.

So the DM is at fault - blame them for deliberate misreporting.

08.03.2026 12:34 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

See, it isn’t that easy and you are trying to do it after the event with no other responsibility or answerability to anyone. It is the DM reporting that is at fault not the message

Or he has stood up to a bully and is now being mocked. Will you stand with him or align yourself with the bully?

One thing seldom mentioned is the huge contribution made by grandparents in childcare. Visit any school at pick up or park in school holidays and you will see. We do it for love but without us many workplaces would be failing as parents can’t work. Time to include it in GDP.

So what should they have said? What language would you have used?

07.03.2026 08:35 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Can’t help thinking how much we have been desensitised to the unusual. Still enjoying the challenge

The amount of money schools receive is not the same everywhere.

Uta Frith: β€˜Autism is not a spectrum’ The autism spectrum has widened to the point of collapse, affecting how teachers should support autistic pupils in the classroom, researcher Uta Frith tells Helen Amass

β€˜I’ve been swept up by the autism spectrum idea, and it’s only in the past 10 years that I have felt things have gone too far. Very slowly, I have come to say, β€œNo, this is not right”’: Autism expert professor Uta Frith talks to @helen-amass.bsky.social

Ofsted came and a child climbed inside and put the top on himself - hated exposure- they didn’t notice and I just hoped desperately he’d stay put until they left, but had to keep wandering over to call his name and check was ok. Still know his name 26 years ago!
