Final tip: Take WAY more pictures than you think you need to! My biggest regret was not having more things to look back at. More signs, menus, people, angles of shadows, architecture, flowers, and silly stuff.

Macau was interesting as a former Portuguese colony; its baroque architecture and plazas at stark odds to its Vegas of the East spectacle of futuristic sheen and sparkle.
All the places I went in Macau seemed much emptier - a great escape from the bustle of HK maybe? Or I just timed it weird.

Hong Kong was lovely; nearby Macau also very nice. Ruinous public transportation (in that it will ruin your impression of any other city’s henceforth). Very hot and humid in the summer. Bright rocky beaches. Flowers everywhere. Generally mediocre food (because of British influence?). Wild nights. 🌇
