Untitled poem from Amanda Lovelace's collection, the witch doesn't burn in this one: they will try to steal your light & use it as a weapon against you. but there's a piece of good news: they don't have the patience to control it like you do.

Every time I visit the library, I try to read one poem (somewhat randomly) off the shelves. This was the most recent one... #poetry
Congrats to all the authors on the Gordon Burn Prize shortlist last night, and winner Maria Reva.
A fine bash in Newcastle, catching up with some bona fide legends including the inimitable Sarah Hall and Richard Dawson.
How am I only learning about this now?!!
I still have an unread copy and havenβt read anything by her yet.π€«

My first time reading Belcourt (thanks to Audrey).
Photo of 4 books and a dog on a bed.
The current rotation:
-Dreamng of Dead People
-(Th)wings & (Th)oughts
-The History of My Brief Body
-Blood Meridian
We seem to have a fixation, for sure.
Thanks for being a judge!
I'm not much of a prize person, but I really like this one (now called the Queen Mary Small Press Prize). The U.S./Canada version is still called the Republic of Consciousness (separate website).
Today, I thought you were working some dark magic... A post of yours popped up when I was searching for the Queen Mary Small Press Prize... Later, I received an overseas package that I wasn't expecting: Keshed (via the Republic of Consciousness Foundation's book-of-the-month club)! #serendipity
I would have no idea what to expect when researching something like this (although, certainly, I would think weight would rank relatively high). What were your expectations before you started looking up studies/polls (e.g., hair, face, body parts, etc.)?

I'm on literature overload today... First, the Queen Mary Small Press Fiction Prize Shortlist announcement (see previous post), then the Women's Prize longlist, and I just received in the mail the book-of-the-month from the Republic of Consciousness Foundation!
Agreed. The U.S. prize isnβt active on here either. π

We got an item ordered online and the warnings were either written by non-English writers or AI. One of them sounded like a band name and read βNot intended for THE UNRESPONSIVE ELDERLY.β
