So what's going on with Birka - a UNESCO World Heritage Site - hiring out its facilities to neo-Nazis. DM me if you have info. @mrundkvist.archaeo.social.ap.brid.gy
The 2026 Viking Society for Northern Research student conference takes place at the University of Liverpool on 11 April. Includes student lectures, launch of the paperback 'Embers of the Hands' by Dr Eleanor Barraclough & plenary lecture by Prof Howard Williams @archaeodeathprof.bsky.social
Thanks for this feedback - is true of all documentaries! I'm usually on the cutting room floor too (for other places/topics).
I very much appreciate that I'm not the intended audience and the documentary does a lot of good.
Apologies if my wording was misleading here. Yes, I appreciate it will be in the Regent Street space.
That would be interesting, indeed! Thanks!
Yay! In a series!

Disappointed to see how many colleagues and friends follow neo-Nazi history, archaeology and mythology accounts
I certainly wasn’t expecting this article in the Guardian on the Milan fashion week to have a final section on Sutton Hoo
I very much enjoyed VALHAll:A when i went last year: it's a great event and so important to see academia and living history coming together like that. Thanks for the report on this year's and I look forward to hearing that it'll be running again in 2027!
A very fair and balanced view of this year's VALHAll:A symposium.
An event like this, bringing together the academic and non-academic, the field archaeologist and living historian, all at different levels of interest and engagement, is a complex thing. I've been hugely impressed with it each year.
