I agree with Rebecca.

More folks should read this from the IFoA… but they won’t as it’s easier to engage with β€œnet zero madness” style soundbites.

Our grandchildren/ great grandchildren will hate us for downplaying the importance of climate change action.

Party leaders perhaps need to rank their MPs based on 1) competence to govern and 2) having clear and consistent principles.

I genuinely don’t know whether this is going to be β€œa report about bad jobs” or a β€œjobs report which has negative connotations”.

Certainly won’t be a poorly written one of course!

The interesting thing about inheritance is how it just exacerbates inTRAgenerational inequity rather than doing much to fix an inTERgenerational issue…

SOME folks inheriting more than many earn in a lifetime… but most get nothing.

Not sure that’s how I read it.

Today’s youngsters have certainly been demographically shafted in certain ways (student loans, house prices) BUT that isn’t to say that nothing’s improved from 40 years ago (AIDS, the Cold War) or 80 years ago (WWII etc etc)…

This is excellent and really well worth a read - thanks to @ianbeestin.bsky.social for sharing.

The bits about climate change as an inTER-generational issue; inheritance disparity leading to a huge inTRA-generational issue; and growing up being genuinely scared of nuclear war all resonate.

Not all tech advances are good…

Or maybe the tech advances are good but then we inevitably find ways to use the tech in bad ways?

Mahmood to stop study visas from four countries due to 'abuse' The government will end study visas from Afghanistan, Cameroon, Myanmar and Sudan, due to what says is abuse.

The unintended outcomes of a flawed model of funding Higher Education in the UK coupled with a flawed immigration system.

CI and USS.

The size of the USS surplus and the cost pressures in the Higher Education sector is quite the juxtaposition.

Don’t forget though that it’s basically just the β€œpre β€˜92s” with USS exposure. β€œPost β€˜92s” have TPS/STSS/LGPS.

This one remark seems like quite a major pivot by prime minister Sir Keir Starmer:

"This government does not believe in regime change from the skies.”
