I can't even say how much I believe in this! You, YES, YOU! You can be a leader! You don't have to have a fancy title, you don't have to have a lot of money, you don't have to be the best - but if you help people, teach, inspire, and lead, then you can be someone's role model. We need role models!

reminder for people disillusioned by losing heroes to AI slop or supporting trump admin or awful studio decisions or the myriad of things going on that the best way to respond to that is to try to become the role model you thought they were new people still need someone to be how you thought of them

Those are always fun to respond to.

"I chose that language because the association already exists as a well-known colloquial shorthand. I'm sorry this is the way you found out what the prevailing brand impression is for Temu, but it is not, in fact, my responsibility to rehabilitate it.

Best!"

I think to the layman the $100K looks like a lot, but it really isn't. Just like when they hear about a TV script being sold for $30K+ and think "all that money for just 1 episode" not knowing anything about how long that can take, how much work goes into that, & the fees for agents, & then taxes.

Just to reiterate for everyone in the back of the room, this IS NOT A GOOD THING

SchrΓΆdinger: okay, so there’s a cat in a box
Friend: right
SchrΓΆdinger: and because you can’t see in the box, the cat’s state is uncertain
Friend: oh! So it could be both eating a little snack and not eating a little snack!
Schrodinger: oooh, yeah. maybe should’ve gone with that.

At this point it's barely even a boycott, I've just stopped thinking of Target as a place to buy the things I used to buy at Target.

Bottom line from the last 6 years of COVID research : If you’ve got blood vessels, you’d be wise to avoid additional infections.

Now is a great time to normalize wearing a respirator. Might feel awkward at first, but every person who does makes it easier for others to follow. Be a leader. 😷

Is this two ships? I think I see two

Also, holy shit what an awful nightmare for the crew! I hope they were able to escape!

All this was very predictable and entirely avoidable.

πŸ”² Can't yell at republicans, they're not on here

πŸ”² Can't yell at transphobes, they don't care

β˜‘οΈ Can yell at allies that are unable to solve systemic problems on their own

i think people really enjoy directing their justified anger at evil oppressive systems onto individuals that really have nothing to do with that out of understandable desperation

I realllllly do no see Massie as as ally... I see him at most as not quite a traitor who is doing the bare minimum of his job. He is useful, we can be grateful he is standing up where his colleagues won't, but his base politics are part of why we are here. Don't forget it.

The idea that America isn’t for everyone who wants to be an American is something that makes my blood boil. Posting a photo of yourself as a Congressman smiling next to these words is wicked. It’s antithetical to the concept of America.

I love the tiny little shred of humanity that is a mutual "gg" between strangers at the end of an online game.

I know it feels like the day-to-day intensity of the ICE occupation in Minnesota has calmed down, but there are so many lagging problems that need solving, right as people’s attention goes elsewhere. Financial assistance, like help with rent, and legal help for the detained. These horrors persist.

Difficult to emphasize just how much a generation of kids has been taught that being dishonest, superficial, and narcissistic is the pathway to attention and therefore success

Sex while unhoused isn't always easy, but there's lots of ways you can protect yourself while being sexual and building connections. Sassafras Patterdale is here with important information to consider if you're a young unhoused person who wants to have sex. www.scarleteen.com/read/sex-s...

this is the kind of content that ends up getting censored with crackdowns on sex and queer content. people trying to help queer (or straight) homeless kids trying to navigate safe ways to get it on--and they will encounter it either way, just like every kid will

I admit to being utterly astonished that a sitting United States Senator is publicly stating this about a briefing he received from the Administration.

It's looking increasingly like these guys thought that if they could wreak more death and destruction than the other side then they would be respected as strong powerful men and they would "win" and that would make them big important heroes. Very possibly they had no rationale deeper than that.
